"On October 21, 2023,, yet another highly successful and productive HIVE ORIENTATION took place at Malingin Elementary School, a growing school institution in the prominent District of Bogo."
If you've been following the series of our successful Hive Orientations, our initial three sessions took place in the Municipality of Tabogon (Ilihan Integrated School, Kal-anan National High School and Caduawan Elementary School). These orientations enabled us to educate teachers about Web3, the world of Blockchain, and, most importantly, the Hive platform.
However recently, with the collaboration and undying support of the facilitators and teacher-bloggers of the North of Cebu, we were able to start building and spreading Hive in the Bogo District, thanks to sir @natsve54 for making the venue and accommodation possible.
The venue: Malingin Elementary School
I honestly feel a bit sad that I might not be able to attend and support this orientation due to a conflict of schedule. Thankfully, my professor canceled our class last Saturday and so I found myself excitedly heading to the venue.
I together with @indayclara @naymhapz arrived at the venue on time. The cleanliness and the quietness of the school welcomed us, I could tell that this was solely opened for this weekend just for us and just for the Hive Orientation.
This was my first time visiting Malingin Elementary School. The school is beautiful, child-friendly, and surrounded by a bounty of plants. If not for Hive, I wouldn't ever have the chance to get into this school and see its beauty. Everything was already prepared and set up by sir @natsve, the orientation hall, and even our lunch!
There were already a few participants eagerly waiting for us to come and couldn't wait to hear about Hive. I could see in their eyes the feelings and excitement I had way back when I was a newbie.
The Hive Orientation Proper
In our previous orientation, the event was always graced with our three excellent facilitators. This time we only have two; @indayclara and @intoy.bugoy as sir @ybanezkim26 had some important things to do.
Unfortunately, @intoy.bugoy was caught in traffic during his travel, which caused a delay in starting the orientation on time. To make the best of the situation and to buy some time, @indayclara decided to open the orientation by providing an introduction of the teacher-bloggers and the onboarders.
- The Basics of Hive - by @indayclara
There was no time being wasted when Intoybugoy arrived (he was the only one bringing a laptop for the presentation). @indayclara discussed and introduced right away the Hive blockchain, she also gave a slight comparison of Web2 and Web3.
-The PeakD Interface - by @intoybugoy
It was @intoybugoy who navigated the PeakD Interface and everything about it, such as the communities, the blogs, the upvotes, and most importantly he elaborated further the reward system which undeniably motivated the participants.
From time to time @indayclara also added important information and back up explanation to not to miss a single thing.
Other Topics: What's in a blog, Do's and Dont's of Hive, The Introblog, and How to get curated.
To get the participants started, Maam @jobeliever showed the participants what we see in a blog. This part is essential because this gives the soon-to-be newbie an idea of what to put on their blogs by the time they start writing.
To provide effective guidance to the participants for their future blogging journey, the Do's and Don'ts in Hive were discussed clearly by @ciadanmea. Part of the Do's and Don'ts are plagiarising one's work, spamming comments, and identity theft. She also gave further examples for participants to always remember.
The next topic is how to make an introblog which according to indayclara is either "you make it or break it". @naymhapz then discussed how to make the introblog, how many pictures should be on it, and what important key points to include in your introblog which are; your brief introduction, your passion and hobbies, who shared you about hive and what the readers and the platform expect from you.
Lastly, if you are on the platform already it's also important to know how to get curated on your succeeding blogs. @dehai discussed on the criteria of the curation starting from the catchy title, the quality content, the layout, and so on.

The participants who showed their interest and eagerness to join and be part of this growing community are the teachers of Malingin Elementary School (of which they humbly admit and showed that they have difficulty in writing), others are the invitees of the onboarders coming from the neighboring town, and we also have participants coming from Mandaue who traveled approximately 3 hours just to get to the venue.

We feel so blessed to have sir @natsve the school principal of Malingin Elementary School who provided us a very warm accommodation. He prepared hanging rice for all of us and his very scrumptious home-cooked chicken!
Moreover, some teacher-bloggers shared and contributed a little of their blessings for the food and drink for everyone. It was Maam @dehai who collected our contributions and had our food ordered and delivered.
We had a happy meal on top of our successful Hive Orientation.
Future Plans!!!
While all the participants made their exits going back to their respective homes, we stayed at the venue for a meeting. Led by @indayclara, we discussed and planned for our upcoming Christmas Party here in the North of Cebu.
We were all elated by the discussion and couldn't wait to have our first-ever Christmas Party of our growing Hive Community.
I am proud to say that we are growing, that our once small circle has now grown and become one big community of like-minded people. Hive has gathered us all. Hive has brought us all together!
