Let me share to you first just a little of my story. Before I joined Hive, what I look forward to on a weekend is the chance to give myself a good rest and also the time I get to spend for the household chores. Since I decided to join Hive, the webinars have become part of those that I look forward to on a weekend. Lucky me that the webinars are scheduled during my rest day from work. Well, everything is just falling into places.

Yesterday, marks another unforgettable day in my Hive journey. It was my 3rd time attending an onboarding webinar, but I guess it was the 4th webinar that Hive PH has organized. The topics discussed yesterday was about Hive Power, the power of Hive Power and how to Power Up.

What is Hive Power?

Hive Power is basically the Hive tokens at stake. It is your resource credits which allows you to perform any activities you want to do in Hive. Our Hive Power can tell how influential we are in this platform. The higher the Hive Power is, the more activities we can do within the site and the more Hive Power we hold in our wallet means, the higher our upvote value is.

The Power of Hive Power

During the 2nd webinar, @romeskie and @tpkidkai have discussed about other ways to earn in Hive through curation and delegation. Yes, these two are just some of the activities we can do in hive platform. The question is, how does Hive Power impacts our curation and delegation? Also, have you heard about Witnesses and Proposals? I have heard about them before but never got the chance to understand it and know thier work and purpose in the community. Thanks to the webinar yesterday I get to have a grasp of what they are and what they do in the platform, but what can our Hive Power do with these two? Let me try to explain it based on how I understood it during the webinar.

• Curation

We are all bloggers and curators here in hive and our curation rewards depends on our Hive Power. As mentioned earlier, the higher the Hive Power we have, the higher the value of our upvote which also means the higher curation rewards we could get.

• Delegation

Delegation means lending our Hive Power to a community or to an account, thus making the community or the account's upvote power to increase which allows it to support more content creators. Delegating your Hive Power allows you to earn Hive in return without creating a content.

• Witnesses and Proposals

Witnesses are the ones who are overseeing the blockchain and make sure that it is doing well. As explained by @ybanezkim26, they are the ones who are validating the blocks which becomes a permanent part of the chain. That is why it is called blockchain. They have the power to decide as to whats going to be the direction and the future of the platform. The higher our Hive Power is, the more support we can provide to the witnesses and help them stay in the Top 20.

Proposals on the other hand, are projects created which aim to improve the platform. Proposals are funded using the decentralized Hive fund dedicated for the betterment of Hive. By voting witnesses and supporting the proposals in the platform, we tend to keep the stability of the platform.

It was also mentioned by @ybanezkim26, that the proposals we can support are those proposals that are already being supported by the influential people in the platform. Since such proposals are already being supported, that means that the people have already checked and verified its legitimacy. Today, I just voted and supported some of the witnesses and proposals I have checked after the webinar yesterday.

Have you checked and decided whom to vote as witness and which proposal to support? If you have not done it yet, what are you waiting for? Start doing your research so you can decide. Start voting for witnesses and support some proposals which you find best for the platform.

How to Power Up?

What is Power Up? Why do we need to Power Up? Powering Up is simply increasing your Hive Power either by using the Hive tokens you have earned from your contents, or exchanging your HBD into Hive then converting it into Hive Power. With this, we are able to increase our voting value and provide more support not only to our co-content creators but also to the witnesses.

Let me now show you the steps in Powering Up. I am going to use the available HDB I have to do it, though there is really nothing much in my wallet right now.

As you can see, I do not have Hive tokens at all. I need to have some to Power Up.

Step 1:

If we hit the dropdown arrow under HBD, we can see the options "Convert to HIVE" and "Market". Converting HDB to Hive will take 3.5 days before the Hive gets delivered, so buying Hive from the market is way more convenient since we can see the Hive we bought real time or just within 5-10 minutes.

If we click on "Market", we can see the page where we can buy Hive. Enter the amount of HDB we want to spend and hit "Buy Hive". We will be asked to enter our Active key, then we will see a notification that our oder has been placed.

We can then go back to our wallet and refresh it to see the Hive token we just bought.

Step 2:

If the Hive token is already available, we can then click on "Power Up". We will then be prompted to enter the amount we want to Power Up, hit "Continue" to proceed. Our Active key is required to complete the transaction.

Now, we can see my HP before and after my Power Up.

Yes, it will reflect into our wallet right away. Quick and easy, right? Yes! This is just one way to power up if you need to exchange your HBD to Hive first. If you already have Hive available, the steps will just be a lot easier since you no longer have to buy Hive.

ANNOUNCEMENT POST - Hive Power Up Day & ORCA MONTH, December 1st 2021

On her blog, you will see how to qualify for the International Power Up Event. You must meet the requirements below.

• Your reputation must be above 39 and below 70.
• Your total Hive Power (before the 1st) must be more than 100 and less than 8000.
• You must power up at least 10 Hive on December 1st.
• You must write a post about your power up on December 1st (your local time) with the tag #HivePUD

Hive PH will also conduct its very own Power Up event for those who are newbies like me who are not qualified for the International Power Up Day Event. So, stay tuned for the details which will be announced soon. Before the webinar officially ended,@ybanezkim26 answered a few questions and announced a bit about the upcoming webinar on December 4 and 5. December 4 webinar will be about Trading while December 5 is intended to discuss more about the NFTs in Hive. Let us all look forward to these said dates to learn and discover more about the opportunities this platform has to offer.

I have been searching for videos and tutorials about trading since I have been really eager to learn more about it. This is my chance and I just couldn't thank this platform enough for being the tool for me to start my trading journey. Also, yesterday's webinar reminded me on the day I first tried to post here in Hive. I did not have any Hive Power that was why I kept getting an error message whenever I tried to hit the "Post" button. Allow me to do a special shoutout to my friend @jenesa for lending me some of her HP so I can start posting and do other things here in Hive.

This platform has always given me so much excitement since the day I posted by introduction, so I know I made the right choice for choosing this over the other. Though sometimes I get so frustrated after hours of trying to come up with a content but still end up having no post at all at the end of the day, I still love the idea that I have this desire in me to post a quality content that is upvote worthy. I love this feeling of trying my best to do better. With this alone, I know I am doing the right thing. I really look forward to the my future here in Hive.
