¿Quién es Mike Tyson?/Who is Mike Tyson?.
Mike Tyson se ha convertido en el campeón de boxeo de peso pesado más chico de todo el mundo en 1986, con 20 años. Perdió el título en 1990 y luego cumplió 3 años de prisión por cargos de violación. Mike Tyson became the world's youngest heavyweight boxing champion in 1986, at the age of 20. He lost the title in 1990 and then served 3 years in prison on rape charges. Tyson has appeared in numerous tapes and a Broadway show about his story, became a best-selling author and has launched a popular cannabis retailer.

Struggling financially, the core Tyson family traveled to Brownsville, Brooklyn, a neighborhood known for its high crime. Tiny and withdrawn, Tyson was constantly the target of bullying.
Tyson's misbehavior landed him in the Tryon School for Boys, a reform school in upstate New York. At Tryon, Tyson met counselor Bob Stewart, who was a former amateur boxing champion. Tyson wanted Stewart to teach him how to use his fists. Stewart reluctantly agreed, on the condition that Tyson stay out of trouble and try harder in school.
Debut Profesional/Professional Debut.

On March 6, 1985, Tyson made his professional debut in Albany, New York, against Hector Mercedes. The 18-year-old knocked out Mercedes in one round. Tyson's strength, quick punches and strong defensive skills intimidated his opponents, who were commonly afraid to hit the fighter. This gave Tyson the uncanny ability to obliterate his opponents in a single round, and earned him the alias "Iron Mike."
The year has been a familiar one for Tyson, yet it was not without tragedy: On November 4, 1985, his coach and surrogate dad, Cus D'Amato, passed away from pneumonia. Kevin Rooney replaced D'Amato and, less than 2 weeks later, Tyson continued his rise up the heavyweight ranks. He recorded his 13th knockout in Houston, Texas, and dedicated the brawl to the man who had molded him as a professional. Individuals close to Tyson claim that he never fully recovered from D'Amato's passing, and attribute the boxer's future behavior to the loss of the human being who had previously served as his foundation and support.

On March 26, 1992, after nearly a year of trial, Tyson has been proclaimed guilty of one count of rape and 2 counts of deviant sexual conduct. Thanks to the laws of the state of Indiana, Tyson was ordered to serve 6 years in prison, with immediate impact.
Initially, Tyson handled his prison stay poorly; he has been proclaimed to have caused him to threaten a guard, which added 15 days to his sentence.
On March 25, 1995, after completing 3 years of his sentence, Tyson was released from the Indiana Youth Center around Plainfield, Indiana. On August 19, 1995, Tyson won the fight, knocking out McNeeley in only 89 seconds. Tyson also won his subsequent fight in the last month of 1995, knocking out Buster Mathis Jr.

After numerous famous fights, Tyson faced his next great challenger: Evander Holyfield. Holyfield had been promised a title shot against Tyson in 1990, prior to Douglas defeating Tyson. Instead of fighting Tyson, Holyfield faced Douglas for the heavyweight title. Douglas lost by knockout on October 25, 1990, making Holyfield the new undefeated heavyweight champion of the world.
On November 9, 1996, Tyson faced Holyfield for the heavyweight title. The evening would not end successfully for Tyson, who lost to Holyfield by 11th round knockout. Instead of Tyson's expected victory, Holyfield made history by becoming only the second person to win the heavyweight championship belt three times. Tyson claimed he was the victim of several illegal headbutts by Holyfield, and vowed to avenge his defeat.
Tyson trained thoroughly for a rematch with Holyfield, and on June 28, 1997 the two boxers met again. The showdown was televised on pay-per-view and entered nearly 2 million homes, setting a record at the time for the largest number of pay-per-viewers. The two boxers also received a record purse for the fight, making them the highest paid boxing experts in history until 2007.
The first and second rounds featured the classic action that audiences have come to expect from both champions. However, the showdown delivered an unpredictable twist in the third round. Tyson shocked the fans and boxing officials once he grabbed Holyfield and bit both of his ears, completely severing a piece of Holyfield's right ear. Tyson claimed the action was in retaliation for Holyfield's illegal headbutts in their previous clash. However, the judges did not agree with Tyson's argument and disqualified the boxer from the fight.
On July 9, 1997, the Nevada State Athletic Commission revoked Tyson's boxing license in a unanimous voice vote and fined the boxer $3 million for biting Holyfield. Unable to continue fighting, Tyson was left aimless and rudderless. Several months later, Tyson took another hit once he was ordered to pay boxer Mitch Green $45,000 for a street brawl incident in 1988. Shortly after the court judgment, Tyson landed in the hospital with a broken rib and punctured lung after his motorcycle skidded out of control on a ride through Connecticut.

Su posterior enfrentamiento, bastante publicitado, podría ser en 2002 con el campeón del CMB, la FIB y la OIB, Lennox Lewis. His subsequent well-publicized clash would be in 2002 with WBC, IBF and IBO champion Lennox Lewis. Tyson was returning to fight for the heavyweight championship, and the confrontation has been quite personal. Tyson made several nasty comments to Lewis prior to the showdown, including a threat to "eat his children." At a press conference held in the first month of the year, the two fighters began a brawl that threatened to cancel the bout, but the bout was ultimately scheduled for June of that year. Tyson lost the fight by knockout, a defeat that marked the decline of the former champion's career.
After losing to Danny Williams in July 2004 and Kevin McBride in June 2005, Tyson announced his retirement. He was inducted into the Universal Boxing Hall of Fame in June 2011.
