Mis Anécdotas Deportivas. Desde que es niño, siempre me han gustado los deportes; de hecho practiqué varias disciplinas, pero sin establecerme en ninguna de ellas. Estuve en una escuela de taekwondo y no funcionó, recibí una patada en el abdomen que me dejó viendo estrellas jejeje; sentí atracción por el boxeo, disfruté de unas sesiones en un gimnasio pero no me gustó eso de recibir golpes a granel; ahora, no me perdí, ni me pierdo de peleas importantes e historicas. De igual manera; entrené en una escuela de béisbol y allí tengo unas aventuras, que aun de grande me pasaron al momento de jugar.

La bicicleta también fue una pasión que debía experimentar y lo hice en un campo especial para ello; no entrené de la forma que era, pero la anécdota que les contaré no estaba referida a una competencia, sino a algo personal pero divertido. Ciertamente; el único deporte que no practiqué desde niño fue el baloncesto; sin embargo, allí fue donde me destaqué a nivel escolar, universitario y casi profesional. Bueno; cosas que pasan y se dice por allí que por algo pasan las cosas.

My Sports Stories. Since I was a child, I have always loved sports; in fact, I practiced several disciplines, but without settling on any of them. I went to a taekwondo school, but it didn't work out. I got kicked in the stomach and saw stars, ha ha ha. I was attracted to boxing and enjoyed a few sessions at a gym, but I didn't like getting hit a lot. Now, I never miss important, historic fights. Similarly, I trained at a baseball school and had some adventures there that still happen to me when I play, even as an adult.

Cycling was also a passion I had to try, and I did so in a special field for that purpose. I didn't train the way I used to, but the story I'm about to tell you isn't about a competition, but rather something personal yet fun. Certainly, the only sport I didn't play as a child was basketball; however, that was where I excelled at school, university, and almost professionally. Well, things happen, and they say that things happen for a reason.

En El Béisbol

Cuando era niño participé en una escuela de béisbol menor; me gustaba este deporte, pero lo que siempre quería hacer era batear jejeje. Cuando iba al campo, lo primero que hacía era decir que yo tenía que ser el primer bate jugar posición no me llamaba la atención. Ahora; cuando era la hora del entrenamiento, me colocaban en la posición de campo corto; realmente no era malo fildeando. El problema era cuando tenía que realizar el lanzamiento a primera o a cualquier otra base; al tomar la pelota y ejecutar la acción de lanzar, era una fija que la pelota iba a parar a las gradas; hiciera lo que hiciera, el descontrol era total.

Estando ya grande en la empresa donde trabajaba; formaron un equipo de softbol, mi posición campo corto. Las cosas no cambiaron, la pelota iba a parar a las gradas; era algo que jamás pude controlar. Sin embargo; una vez en la escuela de béisbol, nos colocaron en una columna para determinar quien podría ser pitcher; estaba convencido que no servía para eso, pero como dicen por allí, misterios de la ciencia; todos los lanzamientos que hice fueron a parar en strike, me pusieron de lanzador en un juego y lo hice muy bien. Cuando volví a la posición de campo corto, seguía con el descontrol.

Otra anécdota ocurrió cuando se jugaban los populares partidos de caimanera; estos ocurrían en un terreno en medio de dos edificios. Era mi turno al bate; viene en lanzamiento, la pelota se va, se va, se va, fue a parar a un ventanal justo de la cocina de uno de los edificios. Estaban haciendo comida y la pelota atravesó la ventana, la pelota cayó junto con los vidrios en la comida. Ustedes dirán ¿Como sabes que cayó todo eso en la comida?; bueno, todos salimos corriendo, pero como siempre paga el más tonto; la señora llegó directo a mi casa con un plato preparado de comida y encima estaba la pelota con vidrios. Ustedes se imaginarán lo que me pasó jejejeje.

In Baseball

When I was a child, I participated in a minor league baseball school; I liked this sport, but what I always wanted to do was bat, hehehe. When I went to the field, the first thing I did was say that I had to be the first batter; playing position didn't appeal to me. Now, when it was time for practice, they would put me at shortstop; I wasn't really bad at fielding. The problem was when I had to throw to first or any other base; when I caught the ball and threw it, it was a sure thing that the ball would end up in the stands; no matter what I did, I was completely out of control.

When I was already well established at the company where I worked, they formed a softball team, and my position was shortstop. Things didn't change; the ball would end up in the stands; it was something I could never control. However, once at baseball school, they lined us up to determine who could be a pitcher. I was convinced that I wasn't cut out for it, but as they say, the mysteries of science prevailed. All my pitches ended up being strikes, so they put me in as pitcher for a game, and I did very well. When I returned to shortstop, I was still out of control.

Another anecdote occurred during the popular caimanera games, which took place on a field between two buildings. It was my turn at bat; the pitcher threw, the ball flew, flew, flew, and ended up in a large window right above the kitchen of one of the buildings. They were cooking, and the ball went through the window, falling into the food along with the glass. You might ask, how do you know it all fell into the food? Well, we all ran away, but as always, the dumbest one pays the price. The lady came straight to my house with a plate of food, and on top of it was the ball with glass. You can imagine what happened to me, ha ha ha.

En El Baloncesto

Íbamos avanzando en edad y el cuerpo pedía más deporte. Mi persona junto con los muchachos, para esa época eramos fanáticos de esta disciplina y siempre estábamos viendo los juegos de Michael Jordan; sin embargo, cerca de casa no teníamos cancha para jugar. Entonces; nos propusimos a construir una media cancha en uno de los estacionamientos. Con el apoyo de otras personas, adquirimos todos los materiales y logramos nuestro cometido. Cada vez que terminaba un partido de Jordan, todos íbamos directo a la cancha a soltar toda esa adrenalina.

En este deporte me destaqué mucho y mi especialidad eran los lanzamientos de 3 puntos. A nivel escolar siempre jugué en todos los equipos y a nivel de universidad sucedió lo mismo. De hecho; logré obtener varias medallas como máximo anotador global y máximo anotador de 3 puntos. Yo estudiaba en la universidad en Maturin estado Monagas Venezuela; entramos a un campeonato y un día nos tocó jugar contra un equipo menor de Guácharos de Monagas. Algunos compañeros y yo lo hicimos muy bien, tanto que nos llamaron a un día de entrenamiento con ellos; lo hicimos, pero lamentablemente me lesioné la rodilla y allí acabó mi sueño; solo Dios sabe lo que hubiera pasado. Actualmente; de vez en cuando lanzo unos balones para nor perder costumbre.

In Basketball

We were getting older and our bodies were craving more exercise. Back then, my friends and I were huge fans of this sport and we were always watching Michael Jordan play; however, there was no court near our house where we could play. So, we decided to build a half court in one of the parking lots. With the help of other people, we bought all the materials and achieved our goal. Every time a Jordan game ended, we would all go straight to the court to release all that adrenaline.

I excelled at this sport, and my specialty was 3-point shots. At school, I always played on all the teams, and the same thing happened at university. In fact, I won several medals as the top overall scorer and top 3-point scorer. I was studying at the university in Maturín, Monagas State, Venezuela. We entered a championship, and one day we had to play against a junior team from Guácharos de Monagas. Some of my teammates and I did so well that they invited us to a training day with them. We did it, but unfortunately, I injured my knee, and that was the end of my dream. Only God knows what would have happened. Nowadays, I shoot some hoops from time to time to keep up my skills.

En Ciclismo

Esta anécdota es sumamente divertida; si bien es cierto, que hice algunas carreras en un pista especial para ello, también es cierto que no tenía bicicleta propia. Bueno; era un pedimento que había hecho, pero mis padres hacían caso omiso jejeje. Nosotros vivíamos en el último piso de un apartamento que tenía cuatro pisos. Un día llegando de clases miré hacia arriba y en el balcón del apartamento estaba una bicicleta rin 20, parecía totalmente nueva. Me dije de inmediato, por fin me compraron la bicicleta; llegué a la casa sin decir un palabra, esperando que mis papás me dieran la buena noticia.

Pasaba el tiempo y no sucedía nada; tampoco me dí cuenta que en el baño estaba un señor haciendo reparaciones. Seguía con la inquietud y decía yo, ¿Nadie me dará la sorpresa?; bueno si me llevé una sorpresa; resulta que veo salir al señor del baño y le dice a mis papás que todo estaba listo. Observo al señor y él va directo al balcón, tomó su bicicleta y se fue; que dolor el mío, pensando que la bicicleta era para mí jejejeje. Bueno; no pasó mucho tiempo cuando por fin me hicieron el regalo y por fin obtuve mi bicicleta; pero lo que me pasó era para reir, por no llorar. Hay muchas cosas más que decir, pero hemos llegado al final, nos vemos pronto.

In Cycling

This anecdote is extremely funny; while it's true that I did race on a special track for that purpose, it's also true that I didn't have my own bike. Well, I had asked my parents for one, but they ignored me, ha ha ha. We lived on the top floor of a four-story apartment building.
