Hola a todos por acá en esta deportiva comunidad.
Doce y media del día. El sol radiante y limpio allá en su cenit infinito hace ponerse aveces la mano sobre las cejas para amortiguar el resplandor que hace achicar los ojos.
Pero retando al sol y la hora en que casi todas las sombras son perpendiculares a los objetos y la todo a lo que la luz toca, una pareja de piel de colores desiguales, él blanco,bella negra. Con las manos ella, con guataca él, se esmeran en no dejar una sola yerba en el jardín de un cunsultorio.
Y no es casual ver a este matrimonio en esta noble pero aveces mal vista labor fpcomunal. Yo los he visto en muchas oportunidades en patios y jardines del poblado en esa actividad.
Quién no es de este pueblo y pasa junto a este hombre que a pesar de no ser de avanzada edad, tiene bajo la gorra de pelotero un rostro surcado por abundantes y profundas arrugas, nunca podría imaginar que ha estado cerca de uno de los mejores entrenasorea de picheo de la provincia de Pinar del Rio Cuba: Mayito.
Como es común entre los cubanos a Mayito nadie le conoce el nombre propio. Solamente es Mayito. Y el y su esposa son un dúo armonioso, que seguros de què la economía no les alcanza con lo que hacen . cotidianamente, pues toman guataca y gáncho (rastrillo) y salen a buzcarselas por otro lado, en este caso guataqueando patios y jardines, labor en la que se han especializado marcando la diferencia con los demas que se dedican a la misma labor.
Por las manos de Jesús Expósito Padron.( Mayito) han pasado generaciones de peloteros de diferentes edades, muchos con resultados sobresalientes tanto en la arena local y nacional, como la internacional.
Él mismo me ofreció entusiasmado una lista de estos talentos pulidos por su experiencia y dedicación enn el arte de entrenar. Una lista extensa que va más allá del área del picheo, entre los que se encuentran estrellas del beisbol cubano como el carismático y versátil jugador sanluiseño Donal Duarte que se desempeñaba en diferentes posiciones dentro del terreno y al que le apodaron " el lobo Duarte" y que fue por muchas temporadas el capitan de los equipos pinareños en las series nacionales. Así, otras figuras no menos importantes del pasatiempo nacional en el occidente.
Pero es en el área de los strteike y las bolas, y donde sus arrugas se llenan de orgullo cuando después de nombrar a varios de sus aventajados discípulos, reserva como plato fuerte de su historia a José Ariel Contreras, lanzador de marca mayor, producto de vuelta abajo y que lucio galas en las grandes ligas de norteamerica .
Yo fui el entrenador de base de Contreras, dice, mientras se acomoda la gorra de pelotero bajo el sol ardiente. Un regaló reciente de un alumno de los que está entrenando
Este entrenador es bastante popular en mi pueblo _y dice que también le conocen por sus resultados en Venezuela , Argentina Dominicana y hasta en los propios Estados Unidos, países algunos de ellos en los que rechazó contratos de trabajo por cuestiones eticas_pues aunque es sabido que aquí existe un estadio con un terreno de reconocida dualidad, él prefiere lugares más comunes y públicos para entrenar a sus pupilos.
Es muy frecuente, según la etapa de entrenamiento, verlo en el portal del cine, en el césped, o en la acera del frente de está institucion cultural, donde interactúan los deportistas y los transeúntes en los mismos espacios públicos. Pero hasta ahora no se ha reportado ningún insidente desagradable
Hoy el sol está como dicen "que raja las piedras ", y Mayito hace un alto para conversar con un conocido amante de la locución y conocedor de las estadística y los numeros deportivos, en especial de la pelota ( basebol).
Él es un sincero apasionado de su deporte y de su especialidad y un demandante a ultransa de la ética deportiva.
Me contó de algunas diferencias con su mejor resultado, José Ariel Contreras, pero se quedan entre él y yo. Pues no estoy actualizado en esa farándula y no entendí a que que cuestion se referia en ese momento.
En la conversación con Mayito_que está vez no viene de Mario _si no de Jesús supe que en la actualidad trabaja como entrenador de picheo en la EIDE Osmani Arenado de la capital pinareña preparando a nuevas generaciones de lanzadores y jugadores de las diferentes posiciones dentro del terreno
Puede que hasta alguno de sus pupilos se averguence de ver a su excelente preparador con una guataca en la mano él, y con un gancho ella, retando al sol y las horas para tener una economia más llevadera.
En el deporte funciona como en el teatro; siempre quedan detrás de los telones y las bambalinas los gestores reales de los grandes éxitos. Los que modelan e impulsan los talentos sin pulir hasta, que los llevan a brillar con luz propia. Esos se conocen menos, pero son imprescindible cuando se cuenta la historia.
Y nuestro Mayito es uno de ellos, y de nosotros!.
