Hello, my hive friends! I am here again today to share another memory I have made. One of the most memorable and remarkable moments for us. I hope you'll enjoy reading my blog!
Attending her recognition ceremony as a Grade 2 student was an incredibly proud moment for me and the rest of my family to remember. I still can't believe how fast time flies. The last time I checked was when she was just graduating from kindergarten, and now she's finally ready to be a Grade 3 student next school year. She's growing much faster than I imagined.
Last week, the day after our moving ceremony was the day the elementary school here in our place held the recognition ceremony for the student learners. Of course, my little sister got a chance to walk on stage because she had awards to be received. The ceremony will start at exactly 3 p.m., so we had no time to lose after we ate our lunch. We immediately prepared ourselves, and my mom asked me if I could do my sister's hairstyle, so I agreed. I just did two simple braids on each side of her hair because I'm not really the type of girl who knows much about hair styling, but I tried.
(My dad wanted to take a photo before we went to the venue.)
We arrived at the school field before 3 p.m., so I had enough time to at least take a picture of the surroundings. And to tell you the truth, this is also my elementary school when I was still young, where all the things began. I was once a city girl, and moving to a different place like this, which is a province, really altered my brain when I was young. I was not used to an environment like this, but thanks to the people who have been with me throughout my journey, I was able to adjust myself quicker than I expected. This school reminds me of a lot of memories; it reminds me of the friendships and the unforgettable memories we've shared. Sadly, most of my elementary school friends have become strangers ever since the pandemic struck.
Seeing the same school that brought me peace and comfort again made me emotional for a moment. I never regretted telling my parents that my little sister should go to my previous school because I knew that she'd be safe here, and for sure she could also make wonderful memories with her own friends. I was so happy when I noticed how much this school has improved over the past few years; they even have their own learning zone now, making it look more unique and high quality for the students.
Going back, my parents immediately went to their designated line for the processional. I was tasked with taking a photo or being like a photographer to them. I didn't argue with it because I like to photograph special moments like this.
(I took a picture while my mom was guiding my little sister to her seat.)
I noticed the number of people or parents here; gosh, there are so many of them. It really showed that they are all here to support their own son or daughter on their own special day.
The emcee has started talking, and many high-level individuals have made their own inspirational or motivational messages for the parents and students. My father immediately said that I should go to the other side of the stage so I could get a nice photo of them once they'd accompanied my sister on stage. Also, the emcee stated that it's strictly not allowed to take photos from our side, so yeah, I had to switch sides so that I could get a better photo.
The names of the honors and students with special awards were called one by one. I waited for about 30 minutes until my sister's name was called to go on stage. I immediately stepped up to take a photo, along with a video, of the moment they put the medal and the ribbon on her. The moment they looked at me with those smiles, I knew that they were the proudest.

Seeing my sister be recognized for her own achievements served as a reminder of her hard work and dedication to earn them. It made me so proud to be her big sister, knowing that I was also the one who helped her and taught her along the way. Attending this special ceremony for my sister became one of the most unforgettable experiences for us. Indeed, showing up really matters.
Let us not forget that even if your own daughter or son did not receive any awards this school year, it is important to greet them and say how proud you are of them. We may not have witnessed it, but they are trying their very best to make us proud. It is also important to show up and accompany your child in ceremonies like these; don't use your busyness as an excuse to not attend their special day. You don't know how much it would mean to them.
