A Day Before the First Day of School

Hi hivers, how are you right now? It’s been a few days since I posted my latest blog due to the fact that I’m really embracing another academic year, and I've been really busy these past few days, so here I am now again ready to share with you another blog of mine. I’ve been missing y'all, and right now I’m really eager to tell you about how my busy days go. So let’s start!

The first day of school really hits differently, especially for those aspiring freshmen who are really eager to learn and to help themselves for the future. As their senior, of course we will welcome them with warmth and a clean and conducive environment that they won’t feel uncomfortable in.

We are told to go to our school for the clean-up drive and for our school to be cleaned so that we will welcome the students, especially the freshmen, in a clean and friendly environment where they can’t feel strange. Of course, our school is for everyone, no matter where you are from or what your culture is—it doesn’t matter at all because in our school we are embracing diversity.

Together with my friends, Jean, Dina, Maria, Vergie, and Joan, as we are members of our school journalist, we also participate in the said clean-up drive because our head told us so. Since the six of us do not go to the same boarding house, Dina, Maria, and Vergie are my companions going there because we are room mates. But we always give updates to the two (Joan and Jean), ex. We are already at the school, so on and so forth.

When we arrived at school, we saw plenty of students that were already cleaning. We saw the classmate of my friends Maria and Vergie, and we went to her and asked something, like if they needed another person to clean there, but she just told us to go to our SSG president about it, and we did.

Our SSG president told us to clean the two rooms, which were located near the library and were on the second floor. After his instructions, we immediately went there and found some brooms for us four; luckily, we saw some brooms. We then went to the first room and started cleaning.

Due to the room being very dusty, while sweeping the floor, we didn’t help but cover our noses with our t-shirts since we did not bring a facemask with us. You can really see the dust that was mixed in the air because the whole room was covered with it.

While sweeping the floor, I saw a rag. I got it and started whipping the windows. It’s very dusty; you can even write your name on the blade of the jalousie. We do different things so that our job will become faster; I was assigned to wipe the windows while Dina and Vergie will sweep the floor, and Maria will arrange the chairs after.

After sweeping the floor, Maria started arranging the chairs. She then drags the two chairs for her task to be done quickly. Since I'm done wiping the widow, I do help her arrange the chairs while Dina and Vergie were sweeping the outside of the room.

Everything looks clean, so we closed the door and went to another. Oh, before I forgot, while we were on the half of cleaning the first room, Jean and Joan arrived. We then told them to find some brooms for them to help us. And since we are almost done cleaning the first room, we just told them to proceed to room no. 2 so that we will finish our task in no time.

Since Jean and Joan already finished sweeping the floor of the second room, I followed it with wiping its window. After cleaning, we then closed the door. We are now done, and then look for the attendance shit. We didn’t know where it was, so we chose to go to the market since we have a lot of things to buy.

In the market, we first buy a dustpan. We really need a dustpan in our boarding house; that’s why, without any hesitation, we bought the nude one. We also buy some rags. We almost spent 64 pesos for the dustpan and the rag.

After buying a dustpan and rag, we then go to the nearby minimart to buy some basic needs or groceries, to be exact, just like canned goods, noodles, soaps, etc. It was just a walking distance from our school, so we decided to go there and stroll.

After 2 minutes of walking, we arrived at the minimart. We used to buy some stuff here because some of the items that they sold were very student-friendly; that's the reason why we chose to buy here rather than the other store.

We put first the things that we bought on this shelf; I don’t know what its exact name is, but I’mglad that the store owner built this; it was really a good help when you carried some things and you wanted to buy some groceries at this store; you just put your things here; don’t worry, there was someone who would look over it so it’s safe.

We then started strolling all over the minimart and looking for our needs.

After buying, we then go to our boarding house. We just walk from the minimart to our boarding house, even though it's kind of hot due to it being already 10 in the morning. While walking, of course, we teased each other and then talked about things that we needed to do in our boarding house. It was indeed a hot and tiring day of mine, yet a joyful one.
