LIFE AT PROVINCE OF BENGUET

in Hive PH7 months ago

Hello guy's it's me, @solinek, your everyday nature lover, food lover, and a traveler. Before we start our day we will have our coffee while viewing the beautiful view of the sunrise at the morning. This is mostly done before we start our daily work at the farm. Sometimes with partner the coffee with Pandesal or loaf bread.

After I finish my coffee. I go straight to our farm to water the plants. We must make sure the plants will not go dry because it's summer already here and the temperature is to hot. Our plant for the season is string beans. It's was in its 2 weeks and after 2 months it is now ready for harvest.

We have also bananas planted and I'm looking if there are good for harvest banana for us to sell in the market tomorrow but I didn't find one to be harvest.

After watering and clearing the weeds, we go now to the pond to catch Tilapia to be sell to our neighbors. Because they have orders for us today. Today is the time for harvesting Tilapia's from the pond.

This is our method in catching tilapia. Tilapia is hard to catch in the muddy pond because they are hiding in the mud or going to the corners where our net is hard to reach.

In our pond we have 4 ponds levels for fingerling, grower, harvesting and pond for mating. We need to do this to minimize the population of the fist. By minimizing the population we can make sure the the growth of the fish is in good condition and easy to catch big fishes in the time of harvesting and also not to over stress the little one. We mostly do the sorting ones a month and the harvesting after another month. So we harvest after 2 months and sorting after 2 months. Today we didn't feed the fishes because of the lost of oxygen to the pond because we harvest and make the water more muddy. We must make sure the the oxygen in the pond and the water will be clear before we feed the fishes.

This is the pond for harvesting. As you can see it is divided in 2 because if we catch a fish smaller than a 3 finger size, we put it in the other half of the pond ready for the next 2 month it is now bigger than the 3 finger size. Today we have a total of 8 kilos order from our neighbors.

Here is the pond for our fingerlings to grow. It is in the toppiest part of all the ponds. The purpose in placing the fingerlings in the toppiest is to make sure the got the best nutrients and get the first clean water good for growing, next to it is the growing section. In this section the food that is leftovers from the top section will flow to the growing section and same goes to the harvesting section. In this practice we can minimize the food consumption of the fishes.

We also catch Tilapia for our lunch with the people who help us in the harvesting of Tilapia and sorting it for the sizes that is good for selling. This kind of dish is called paksiw. The ingredients are just vinegar, salt, onion. The method is just simmering it for at least 20 minutes and you will know if it is cook if the skin of the first start to reap off.

I'm actually looking for farmer-partners in Benguet. If you know some who are interested, let me know! :)

A Cup of coffee + a good scenery, is a nice way to boost your mood before starting your day. Hoping for more bountiful harvest bro!

wow! kainggit yung pond mo. Hubby and I were trying to rear tilapia at home using trapond but the fish growth were stunted. Sarap talaga mamuhay sa province
