On the last third week of August, we are having our monthly session. We have lots of agendas that we discussed during our meeting, but the most highlighted agenda we are focusing on is the 'Linggo ng Kabataan', which is already happening. I will tell you the flow of it later. We are coming up with different ideas, games, and other plans for this event. Fortunately, this event we’re organizing is somewhat less hectic, and we don't really need to worry because it's not as burdensome as our last event.

The linggo ng kabtaan won’t be successful without the guidance and blessings of our heavenly father. So around noon (August 24, 2024), we are gathered in Birhen sa Fatima Chapel of Purok Mangga. All of the youth in each cluster are requested to join the holy mass for the blessing before doing our next activities.
Luckily, I was chosen to be the one who served as a reader in the prayers of the faithful during the mass. Together with my SK officials, I am so thankful and blessed by God because he is giving me great pleasure by serving his people.

During the mass, I was touched by the homily that Father Mark has sent to us. His message is very important for us leaders. I do appreciate his words of wisdom, for he literally is the one that God gives us. And I am also hoping that all the youth in our barangay who attended the mass well might be changed and touched by his homily because it is very powerful. After the mass, our SK chairperson said to our father that we would take pictures first before Father Mark and his company headed back home. A photo opportunity for documentation will be posted on our page for remembrance.

It's play time.
eyyy 🤙🤙
(the game called Laro ng Lahi for the celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan). In our games, there are some changes due to the rain that occurred in the morning, and it is not applicable on the ground because it is muddy. So what we did was change it to another game that is very applicable yet enjoyable. The first game is Getting to Know You (each other).

In this game, all youth participants in each cluster are requested to form a line for the counting as well as finding their groups. There are only two groups, and each group is composed of twenty or more members. And after that, our SK chairwoman said the flow and rules of the game: all youth participants in each cluster are requested to form a line for the counting as well as finding their groups. There are only two groups, and each group is composed of twenty or more members. And after that, our SK chairwoman explained the flow and rules of the games. After listening to her, we started the game.
It was very enthusiastic. Why? Well, the twist of the game is very unique and new to me. I didn't expect that the game would be wonderful, thrilling, and exciting because there are parts of the rules where you need to guess what purok she or he belongs to. It is based on how your co-members are going to describe the person that needs to be guessed. The hint of that game for me is crucial because we didn’t familiarise ourselves with the members of our opponents, which is very important to that part. At the end of the game, our opponent declared themselves the winner, 3-0. Hence, we didn’t win, though I gained lots of lessons and unforgettable fun times.

The second game was so much fun. It will test your strength, capability, and determination to see how long your endurance will last. This game will literally cause you to lose your breath. You know why? Because this game is called Pecah, you keep on running so that the opponent will never catch you. It's very tiring knowing that I don't have enough breath, and I easily get tired. But at least I now experience it again—the feeling of being a child where the game was so much fun. It will test your strength and capability and determine how long your endurance will last. This game will literally cause you to lose your breath. You know why? Because this game is called Pecah, you keep on running so that the opponent will never catch you. It's very tiring knowing that I don't have enough breath and that I easily get tired. But at least I now experience it again—the feeling of being a child where the games are only like this and not on social media. At the end of the game, the second opponent is declared to be the winner again.
And for the last game, it's not really intense and tiring but very enjoyable because the game is called “tumbang preso.” You need to catch the can so that your team will be declared the winner. In this game, I had lots of laughs because the two opponents were so eager to win because this was too easy. You just needed to use your sleeper to catch the can. Yet in this last game, I didn’t join because I was already bushed. I just support them and watch them while they are competing for this last game. At the end, group one (which is the group I am part of in the last two games) is declared the winner.
Furthermore, after our amusing, wonderful, and spectacular activities, they are now instructed to relax first. Upon that, we honoured the two groups with a certificate of appreciation for their participation in this significant occasion in our barangay.

After they had rested, we gathered them in the centre for a photo opportunity, and then we provided them snacks because we knew their games were not easy. That is why, once they had received each food, it was time to eat it. I also included them because we are fatigued and need to recharge our energies.

"After the event"
Additionally, in the evening, there is also a one-night disco as a continuation of the celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan. We are obliged to go to the gymnasium because we are going to have fun together with my co-SK officials. Around 7 p.m., we went to the house of our SK chairperson because we had a paper to sign in (signature). After that, we travel to the gym, and then we go to all the youths who arrived for attendance purposes (is that so weird?) Well, it is.
That night was beyond memorable for me because finally all my burdens that day vanished because I enjoyed dancing and forgetting the bad happenings that are not good to remember and think about.
To sum up, that day was so wonderful and incredible because another successful event happened. I do have lots of new lessons and learnings from the activities we do. Seriously, I'm so honored to be part of the sangguniang kabataan youth leader (councillor). Cheers to more experience and success in our barangay! That's all for today. I hope you have a great experience joining the event in your respective rangays. See you next time, adios!!
