A Year End Eat-Out at ChoQuin K-Mart

It’s finally 2026, and even though the festivities have now kinda died down a little, there are still a few people in our neighborhood who are up for videoke and soundtrip—speaking of trip, my friends and I decided to have a short walk on Gullas Heights last Monday. It’s been a while since we saw her, so we’re quite excited for that day. Although our house isn’t far from our meeting place, still we took our time because a sudden babysitting duty came up. Thankfully, our mother came to our aid, and she volunteered to sub for my younger sister.

It’s already late afternoon when we arrived at Gullas Heights, but strangely there aren’t many people there yet. Our initial plan was to go immediately to ChoQuin K-Mart, and there we will eat and catch up at the same time. But I think they were still preparing when we arrived, so we just decided to stay above the riprap and catch up while waiting.

Since it’s already late afternoon at that time—prolly 4:00—we’re kinda hungry, so we eat some street foods and talk while doing so. I’ve mentioned that it’s been a long time since we met her, so I was quite worried that our vibes won’t align anymore. However, that worry disappeared the moment we talked again, for indeed, even if we haven’t talked face-to-face for a long time, we still have that connection we had before.

Time flew so fast, and the next thing we knew, it was already past 5:00. We checked again at the K-Mart, and thankfully there are already other customers dining. By the way, it’s my first time eating out in a K-mart because usually I don’t go out, so it’s pretty understandable. Its entrance was quite cramped with all the products that were displayed there.

We immediately got our utensils, bowls, and trays then we started choosing the ramen of our liking. There are two options, the stir-fry and the soup-based, and also there are various toppings and drinks available at affordable prices. When we’re done selecting the food and drinks we like, we proceed to the cashier to pay.

After paying for all of it, we finally proceed to our most anticipated part—the cooking time! Both Mea and Eloi chose stir-fry, so their food was cooked earlier than mine. Anyway, it didn’t take too long when mine got cooked, and after we savored our moments eating.

We laugh a lot of times while eating, because Eloi’s noodle was so spicy to the point she’s doubting if she can eat another forkful of it other than her first. It was really a fun moment for us because it’s not often we eat out. We ate, talked, and laughed for almost an hour, and when Eloi finally finished with her devilishly spicy samyang, we proceeded to buy tiramisu for our dessert.

After eating, we stayed a bit to tidy ourselves and also our table, and before we parted ways, we took pictures. When we’re done with all of that, we bid our goodbyes to Mea since she’s the only one among us going the opposite way.

Overall, our eat-out experience in ChoQuin K-Mart was nice. The prices for those products were definitely reasonable and affordable. The service was also fine, especially with their cashier, who’s so enthusiastic in entertaining and guiding us.

Further, I definitely appreciate the assistance of other crew in the cooking station because it’s my first time there so I definitely need it. And also, I almost forgot to share how beautiful and relaxing the view is up there.

Since it’s still in Gullas Heights, the view there overlooks the entire Minglanilla and beyond, and it particularly becomes better when it’s nighttime because you can definitely watch the glowing city lights up there. So, if you wanted to visit Gullas Heights in Minglanilla, Cebu, and eat something Korean-like there, then I suggest you go to ChoQuin K-Mart.

I think that would be all for this eat-out sharing. By the way, how about you? What is your recent eat-out moments? Is it from last year or today? If you wanted to share, then feel free to use the comment below. Anyway, that would be all for now everyone, thanks for reading up until here and I hope I can share more happy and memorable moments soon! See ya'll around~
