A Dose of Vitamin Sea

Today was an exceptionally disappointing day for me. Aside from the fact that I haven’t been that productive, the team I’m rooting for in the collegiate basketball championship didn’t win. It’s a tough game really, because there’s a lot of physicality that happened, plus the offense of the team I’m rooting for is really salty today. I was so stressed while watching them get fouled many times and miss a lot of scoring opportunities.

It’s like they’re out of their element today, and it’s jarring to see them play like that—especially against their longtime rival team. Anyway, enough of that negativity, I’ll just reminisce about the good times I had this week, and that goes back to my side trip in San Fernando, Cebu last December 8.

Supposedly it’s just a project-making day for all of us, and although they already hinted that we’re possibly gonna have a beach trip afterwards, I thought they were just being unserious about that. That hint became more unbelievable when I arrived at my classmate’s house. It’s literally like in the middle of nowhere. It was surrounded by trees, and it’s at the top of a mountain, so yeah...I did really treat that hint of a beach trip as a joke. But when it was almost 3:00 in the afternoon, they said that we should go now to that beach, which puzzled me because I was wondering about where that said beach could be. It turns out it’s just across their highway! I literally forgot that the southern part of our province is abundant in near-road beaches.

We stayed for a couple of hours there just chatting and doing our thing. I enjoyed watching the sea despite that it wasn’t at its best because it rained just a day ago, and the water was definitely murky, plus garbages had accumulated near the beachside. The cottage we’re staying in is kinda free (because it’s totally not free because you need to buy something from the store of the owner to get to stay), and we’re thankful for that. I wasn’t able to have a dip because I don’t have spare clothes, and even if I did, I wouldn’t because, like I said, the water’s really murky and unclean...totally not ideal for swimming.

Anyway, I was still able to relax and ponder stuff there because it’s quiet. I even saw a teenage boy having his alone time in the distance...and since I’m kinda observant, I watched him for a while and deduced what his problem could be. I concluded it’s a love life problem because it can’t be financial because he’s really spending much on his food and drink. Plus, the song I heard is the typical sad boy playlist for the brokenhearted, so that solidified my hunch. Enough of that, after the little deduction moment of mine, I went back to my pondering moments.

Since I live among mountains, seeing up close the ocean felt kinda refreshing because of how mesmerizing the waves are. Also, I’m amused at watching the tiny crabs scatter as I poke some of them. Two hours passed in a blink of an eye, and it’s already passed 5:00 when we decide to freshen up and pack our stuff.

We took a quick photo op first before we left that place, and that’s it! That ends our brief sea trip. It wasn’t long, but at least I was able to see the sea and savor what it feels like to be near to it. How about you? Have you taken your dose of vitamin sea or haven’t you yet? Well, I guess that’s all for now, people. Thanks for staying up until here, and hope to see you around!
