My Valentine's: The Things I Loved During the Day

Valentine’s or Hearts Day, whatever term you use, it still gives the essence of giving and expressing love towards the people we live our lives for. It’s actually a cliché day. I mean, even if it’s not Valentine's Day, we can still express our love in a simple and sincere way. Maybe Valentine’s Day gives a special chance or awakening to some people. It’s a cliché day, so it isn’t scary to do something beyond your thoughts and maybe even share your feelings towards someone else that you long to talk to or have fun with. I always use the word cliché; do you think it really is?

My Valentine’s Day was purely a day of friendship, since I don’t have any men in my life yet. I got to smile—even my jaw dropped from surprise—and got to laugh and talk with the people I cherish the most.

Hello, and what’s up, HIVers? It’s been really a long time since I wrote a blog. My academic schedule has been hectic, and we will have our scheduled mastery exam next week. Nonetheless, now that I have the chance to talk with you guys, why not share my Valentine's Day and have some fun? Buckle up and enjoy the things I loved during the Day of Love.

🎀 @alme’s gift to me: The Cat Chrochet Beanie Hat

On Wednesday, February 14, I didn’t wake up early since all I know for this day is that we won’t have any classes. For this reason, I reached the school at 7:30 a.m. The first thing that caught my eye was the crocheted rose above our table. I knew that @alme really made something for everyone. My great friend, @alme, does crochet, and she’s got those pretty creative ideas on what to crochet; she even finishes it in days.

I sat on my chair and re-applied some light makeup. My friend said she had something for me. I knew it! heh. I finished my makeup before receiving her gift, and when she pulled her gift, vwallah! It was my dream hat! Yes, Dream Hat! Just like what she said on her blog, I did give her a blasting reaction, ‘cause I’m really surprised, really surprised! I mean, if this hat were sold, damn, it would be a little expensive, but she gifted it to me! I definitely said that @alme really loves me because she spent time and money on this hat. That was a good start for my Valentine’s Day.

🎀 Candy heart and a handwritten letter

A female classmate whom I got to be close with also called my name after I received the hat. She is a friend who shares the same love opinions as me, and somehow, when we are in the same group, we are the "duo type" of pair. She handed me a candy heart and a letter. My heart literally melted by the letter; it was great reading the words that were made for me. I hugged her for a few seconds and thanked her for being such a good friend.

🎀 The Paper Rings

When dismissal came, we went to the students’ lounge, and my friend from another section pulled me towards their fair. He convinced me to buy paper rings and try their exhibit. He was so enthusiastic about it, and he was really hoping I would buy some. As a good friend, I bought five paper rings and gave some to my closest friends. The paper rings were made adorably.

🎀 My date around the IT Park

Me and one of my closest friends had nothing to do after the class, so we decided to go to the IT Park. My other friend has plans with her girlfriend, while @alme had to join the Chemistry Olympiad (‘cause she’s a science genius, y'all), so that’s why the two of us are left together.

Our date was by far the most enjoyable I ever had with someone on Valentine's Day. I also feel like this one will be the longest part of my blog. So here it goes.

📌The first thing we did was do window shopping at the Creative Corner. We looked for a gift, found some cute gifts, and let the counter wrap the things we chose.

📌Second, we waited for the Sugbo Mercado to open, which opens at 4:00 pm, so we sat in the park and took some pictures.

📌Third, we walked through the city and talked all the way until we reached the Waterfront Hotel. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, it’s crazy that we’ve reached the Waterfront Hotel just by walking. We even got to interact with kind strangers there and wish each other a happy Valentine’s Day.

📌Fourth, we went to the grocery store and bought ice cream and tikoy( rice cake or sweet cake). It was simple—not until a sales lady approached us and told us they had a free photo booth! What a surprise! Without any hesitation, we struck a pose and received a hard copy of our photos. Very sweet and fun!

📌Finally, the Sugbo Mercado! It finally opened when we got back there, and my friend craved some bagoong, or anchovies, in English. We decided to buy a cup of mango filled with anchovies! It was so yum! Really, really yum! The other one we tried there was the trending tanghulu, where grapes and strawberries are on a stick covered with caramelised sugar. It was 11/10!!! You guys should try Tanghulu!

Oh! That was four things I loved on Valentine’s Day. I must say my day wasn’t simple nor grand. It was a perfect day for me. I’m actually surprised that I got pretty many memories from just a day. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting that much from Valentine’s Day, but spontaneity was at its best!

I’ve got a pretty life I’m living right now. Along with my friends and family, they make it so much better and surprising in some ways. Even though I called Valentine’s Day a cliché one, I must admit that it still gives off warm and surprising moments.
