Hello peenoise!
Maybe you're wondering what is the meaning of today's blog.
KÁLUNURAN is a Filipino word or term that means the western horizon where the sun sets.
What's with this you think?
This is the title of the short film we made for our final project for our school.
I would like to share with you a story about why and how we made this short film and some inspirations behind the scenes from your very own director and editor!
It all started with a project
It all started with the final project we needed to complete for our final semester in this 3rd-year college in "Kulturang popular" subject which is "Popular culture" if translated to English. Which is all about the current and popular culture we do or adapt to other cultures. We also discuss world-class cultures and how they affect the current modernization and globalization of our country, the Philippines.
Eh, enough about that!
I know you are bored reading about what "Kulturang Popular" means but since it's about popular culture, our professor gave us a project about the most popular activity to do nowadays...
"Be a content creator and create content about the changes and differences in the cultures we have then and now."
So basically create a vlog about the past and present cultures we have here in our country, right? Simple but I want to think outside the box, do something that others won't do, try something that I would like to do, and test my skills at the same time.
So I won't create a vlog or content but I will make a short film instead. Telling a story while showing the past and present cultures but doing this, will take more time, effort, directing, and editing compared to making a simple vlog.
But whatever! I will shoulder the directing and editing just to test my skills if I'm maybe able to do this task, if you're thinking otherwise I did ask for the permission of my groupmates and especially our professor if we can do a short film instead of a vlog and luckily he gave us the green light.

The story behind the film
Before all of this happened I already wanted to try to create a short film and tell a story but didn't get a chance to so when I heard about this school project, I knew this was the time to try and do this.
Of course, I will not spoil you with the story so if you may want to watch it instead for yourself, I look forward to you watching it so this blog makes sense for both of us, but what I can tell you is not to expect some Hollywood cinematography or Netflix type level of films and my classmates are not actors and didn't even do workshops for acting, so lower your expectations please and remember this is my first time doing this.
We had a couple of shooting days, 3 days of taking videos, and 2 days of editing for me. We do different locations around our area and our school.
We also presented this in front of the class last week and our professor wasn't disappointed. In this short film, you will learn a little about the cultures we live in nowadays and maybe you also can agree and also do this in your culture.
So without further ado, I would like to present to you our short film, KÁLUNURAN https://fb.watch/s8oX7S9RWK/

Theme song:
Till My Heartaches End by KZ Tandingan
Thank you for the new term. 😊
I'll try to watch it first and then reply back with my findings.
Watched it and I can say that the music inserted are okay - at first I was wondering why the female character is humming KZ's song then I realized that it is connected to the story, I did not expect the ending as I was expecting something different but almost close to it.
Good job in creating such and for the acting, yeah okay lang yan since you are not pro the lines were delivered naman in a way that can be understood.
I didn't expect that my classmates could act even a little so I was glad that they delivered the role as it was in the film. Thank you @tpkidkai <3
