Again, I will be mentioning the things of the past. Yesterday, while I unpack another bunch of stuff, I came across these song hits.
It has been 2 months of living in our new place of residence but we're not done yet with decluttering and organizing our stuff.🙂
Background
My sister and her family used to live here in our city but due to her husband's work assignment, they transferred to Manila and left some of their things in our home. They lived there for about 30 years and take a vacation here once in a while. Their stuff went with us whenever we transferred, including these song hits. Her husband used to collect them, they used to be very many but now they are only about 20 pcs. We wanted to dispose of them but I asked permission first from my sister, who then asked her husband, and gave me the go-signal to go ahead and do what we intended to do with them.
It is so ironic that I haven't heard my brother-in-law sing but he had a collection of song hits.🙂 Most likely, he just wanted to listen to them and enjoy the lyrics.
I noticed that he was a fan of both local and international artists.
Look at those dates and how much they cost. I was only a year old then and you can imagine how old these are now.🙂
I Ended Up Singing Familiar Tunes
I thought I would only take photos of them, and make a post before I throw them away, but as I was browsing the pages, I saw some familiar songs like "Sweet Caroline", "Sugar, Sugar", and "Unchained Melody" which was a theme song of the movie, "Ghost". When I saw the lyrics, I searched for them on YouTube since I have not memorized them. If I'm familiar with an old song, it's only the tune and chorus that I can sing. Then I started to sing, and I think some of you know these songs too. Unlike modern ones, old music doesn't easily get fade away. While I enjoyed watching these songs on YouTube, I didn't notice the passing of time. I started at around 10 o'clock and stopped only when it was already lunchtime and then I started cooking our meal.
Why Do You Think Old Music Is Popular?
A few weeks ago, in my Facebook feed, I saw a video of a boy, I think he was 11 or 12 years old, he sang beautifully popular songs by Karen Carpenter like "Love Me For What I Am" and "Won't Last A Day Without You" to name a few. I am always amazed when I see young people sing music from the past.
How about you Friends? Let me know your thoughts.
That's it for now, thanks for reading. Until next time.
Take care!
lytha
We had those, too! I can still remember bringing some to school 😁
Seeing the younger generations sing the old songs is something I really appreciate as well. Nostalgic!
Yeah, my classmates were fond of bringing song hits and other teenage magazines. I remember my classmate's attention was called by my teacher because some were looking at the song hits instead of listening.🙂

I love those old magazines, especially if the paper is already yellow. Reading those is like walk back in time. Life was very different back then and with no internet, these magazines were of high value.
Do I think old music is popular? Not really. I mean there are remixes, some of those are popular and most likely old people listen to music of their youth, but other than that ... Then again, who knows.
Yeah, life then was simple and it feels good to reminisce.
