We are almost in the middle of January, yet I am writing about our New Year's Celebration today. Let's think of the positive side; at least I am the only one writing about it now 🤣.
2024 was bittersweet for me. A lot happened, and though I was overjoyed having Caleb, there were also a lot of heartaches. I will share it in Hiveph blogging contest.
I am ready to leave all the negativities and welcome 2025 with a grateful heart.
Back then, I was so eager to complete the 13 round fruits as tradition, but lately, I stopped. Now, it would not bring luck, but rather bad luck if you welcome the year with an empty pocket. Supply vs demand: The prices of these fruits have tripled these days. Still, I bought a few to display on the table.
We didn't cook a lot as we didn't plan to spend the next days reheating leftovers. We just had enough food to share with the family. Yes, we hosted the celebration. It was fine with me since my husband was here to help me clean up after.
The Celebration.
A part of Filipino tradition was lighting firecrackers to chase negativities. However, due to many accidents, this practice was limited and dangerous, so it was banned.
This is only what we had; sister-in-law was able to buy it when she went to Bulacan (Known for these products.)
The kids enjoyed lighting Lucis. Caleb was excellent at seeing colorful lights, and he kept on giggling.
I could not blame him as this was his first. Next year, he can hold one for a minute.
After that, we decided to eat. My husband cooked buttered shrimp and mussels, which I requested because I've been craving them. Allergies? No problem; I had a medicine. Also, our husband is here to take care of our son.
Okay, you eat first; I will hold Caleb. That is so considerate of him. Without a second thought, I get my plate and enjoy eating until my heart is content.
We didn't feel like washing plates, so I prepared disposables. It's been our routine for a while, and we use disposables on every occasion. So, I brought mine as borrowing wasn't my cup of tea. Our mother raised us to believe that having our own is a must.
The picture taking.
His nephew was the family artist, so he prepared the backdrop—a minimalist for this, as they say.
Caleb might be in a good mood, but he is still a baby, so taking family pictures was a challenge. His cousins kept cheering him on, but he still didn't smile. There were times when he was bubbly, but when he was not in the mood, this happened.
I think he didn't get enough sleep. As much as I tried, he woke up after a while due to noise.
Canndy cups, I prepared this for the kids to enjoy. It was just a portion of the christening. I just printed another sticker for the new year. They love it and asked for more 😆.
