From Gin to Red Horse: My Fun Alak-Edition Alkansya Journey to Saving 20-Peso Coins Again!

Hello, Hive Family, most especially to this wonderful Hive PH Community! Due to my busy schedule, my last blog was two days ago. Now, I’m writing on the spot again while riding on a bus going home.

There’s something exciting about starting a new savings challenge. Today, I received my parcel that marks the beginning of another year-long adventure with my 20-peso coins. But this time, I’m adding a twist. My new coin banks aren’t the usual piggy banks. They’re alak edition alkansya, designed like cans of Gin and Red Horse.

Opening the package felt like unwrapping a little surprise. Inside were two shiny can-shaped alkansya, each printed with familiar “alak” designs. One was Gin, the other Red Horse—both instantly recognizable to anyone who’s seen these popular drinks.

Last year, I enjoyed the discipline of saving 20-peso coins. It’s a small habit that adds up to something big over time. So, I decided to continue the tradition, but with a more playful setup this year.

Instead of the classic piggy bank, I wanted something unique. These can alkansya are not only practical but also fun conversation pieces. They remind me that saving doesn’t have to be boring. It can reflect personality and creativity.

My goal is simple: fill these two alkansya with 20-peso coins over the course of a year. By the end, I’ll have a satisfying stash that shows the power of consistency.

Thank you for reading about my little savings adventure! I hope this inspires you to start your own creative way of saving. Whether it’s coins, bills, or even digital savings, the important thing is building the habit. Cheers to a year of discipline, fun, and financial growth!

@leighdalisay Wow you're such a creative person..I love how you give importance and emphasis to savings even just a single amount of penny..I appreciate you for having a goal and be a better thrift person next year..

Thank you! I need to save. I really need to save, even coins. Hahahaha! Sole breadwinner here 🙏

@leighdalisay Wow..
I can also relate to you sis...but as of now I can't do saving because of the many bills to pay.. hopefully one day I have the courage to do the same as you do.. so inspiring your story sis

Like you, I do have lots of bills and loans to settle on a monthly basis. I feel like my bills are more than my salary, tbh. That's why I also devote my free time/rest days for side hustles...
With regard to coin saving, I'm only saving the 20-peso coins pag may tira sa mga sukli ng paper bills, Sissy. Nakasanayan ko na rin kasi yearly. Thank you so much for the appreciation. I'm excited to your ipon challenge in the future. 🙏 💙

@leighdalisay hugs to you sis 😘
Thank you sis Sana next year our financial situation will become better..
