Hello Hivers!! How are you? I'm sure you're having a blast. Enjoy your weekend bonding with your friends or love one's. This is me again @kyyyys giving you another blog to read. So, in this blog I will share with all of you about HOW WE MAKE OUR RJ45 LAN CABLE.
Last may 14 our Networking Instructor told us to order a Rj45 and lan cable online for us to use on May 23 Thursday. So my classmate told us that she is the one who will ordering the Rj45 online and we just give her our payment. As I mentioned on my other blogs that I am an IT student on Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) So, as an IT we need to make our own Rj45 lan cable.
On May 23 Thursday my classmate and instructor were distributing the Rj45 and lan cable to us. 5 meters each and 2 Rj45 to use. After disturbing our instructor discussed the procedure on how to make it using Straight-through and crossover cable.
Ps: Picture below was our topic on May 23, 2024 discussed by our Networking Instructor.
STRAIGHT-THROUGH, CROSSOVER AND ROLLOVER WIRING
EIA/TIA STANDARD CAT5E AND CAT6
STANDARDS FOR CATEGORY 5e CABLE
WHAT IS STRAIGHT-THROUGH CABLE?
According to google:
(Straight-through cable is a type of CAT5 with RJ-45 connectors at each end, and each has the same pin out. It is in accordance with either the T568A or T568B standards. It uses the same color code throughout the LAN for consistency. This type of twisted-pair cable is used in LAN to connect a computer or a network hub such as a router. It is one of the most common types of network cable.)
WHAT IS A CROSSOVER CABLE?
According to google:
(An Ethernet crossover cable is a network cable used to connect two Ethernet network devices directly, such as two computers without a switch or router in between. They are used to send and receive data by enabling complex data transfers between computers, routers, and networks.)
While my instructor is discussing I searched online about Rj45 crossover cable for more information to gather.
WHAT IS ROLLOVER CABLE?
According to google:
(A rollover cable (also known as a Yost cable, Cisco cable, or a console cable) is a type of null-modem cable that is used to connect a computer terminal to a router's console port. This cable is typically flat (and has a light blue color) to help distinguish it from other types of network cabling. It gets the name rollover because the pinouts on one end are reversed from the other, as if the flat cable had been rolled over.)
After discussing I searched on YouTube tutorial about how to make a Straight-through cable and a crossover cable. Our instructor is so busy that time teaching my other classmates how to make it so, instead of asking him I searched it online.
THIS IS THE WIRE OR LAN CABLE
THIS IS THE RJ45
I've finished assembling my Rj45 and lan cable, I automatically went to my instructor to let him check it if I did the wiring correctly.
My instructor test it using a tester and luckily I did it correctly in just one try.
And this is it the finished product. I just put my name on the wire and passed it to our instructor.
By the way, we used this tool called CRIMPING TOOL PIN to locked the Rj45.
Next thing we did was to find a wire that is not used and cut the wires like this picture.
I Untangled the wire
After I Untangled the wire it become two. The one wire I put it on Rj45 number 1 and connect the wire on Rj45 number 3, while the other wire must be on Rj45 number 2 and connect it on Rj45 number 6. I locked it using a crimping tool pin and went to our instructor to test it.
I was nervous when I testing my Loopback Adapter on this machine (forgot the name on this) , as you notice on the picture I put it on number 1 and it have light (the yellow one) put it on other numbers and when it lights it will passed or approved.
This is the two finished product that I made. Luckily I passed the two on my first try.
That's all for today's blog Hivers! Thank you for your time reading my short blog. See you on my next one. Adios 🫡💗
Ui cool to ah additional knowledge.
Suggest ko instead na sa HivePH you can post your content dito sa HiveSTEM para ma reach mo din yung ibang audience.
Good job Ma'am @kyyyys you able to do it. Take care
Thank you @diamondinthesky , Take care also.
Nice work! You can now make more if gusto nyo mag extend2x ng mga wires2x sa bahay. When I first learned about that lesson when I was in college, nag try2x ako sa bahay at ayown, na extend2x na ung internet namin kung saan saang devices hahaha
We also had an exam about that, the fastest who can make the devices' connections work (parang lan party) will get the highest grade. The slowest having the passing grade. Syempre competitive kami hahaha buti di kayo pinag ganyan 😂
Anyway this is a great knowledge and I'm sure you rejoiced when you got it right on your first try!
Probably next time, in your post, put the actual link of the sources and not just from Google 🙂
May exam Kami about sa ganyan sa semi pero hindi pa namin alam yung flow, Pina master muna saamin Yung pagawa para hindi na mahirap sa susunod. Salamat po sa pagbasa at sa recommendations @wittyzell . Laban IT!!!
Good luck! Galingan mo! 🥳
Hello, an IT student here. Mabuti hindi masyadong strict ang prof nyo sa tamang pagccrimp. Samin kailangang nakapasok yung blue coating at walang exposed na copper wires sa labas para mas secured daw at hindi magkaroon ng problem in the long run.
Pero sabi nga nila as long as gumana, wag na pakielaman hahaha
Sabi ng prof namin na okay lang daw muna yan, as long as gumana hehe. Salamat po sa pagbasa!!
Congratulations on succeeding with your first try! That's excellent! Learning to make our own functional ethernet cables is a very valuable skill to learn! I've done all the tech and network setup and maintenance in the off-grid jungle community where I live for years now, and I learned it by doing it! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Hoping to learn more soon, I will just keep on practicing for me to enhance my skills and master it.
I have no doubt that you will, and that's exactly the way to do it, lots of practice! I wish you immese success! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
