Hive Business Card Designs Proposal

in Hive PH2 years ago (edited)

Conceptualizing and placing your design on a blank canvas is a tough start. You are having an inner battle about what elements you should use, where to place them prioritizing clients' satisfaction, what font style combinations are suitable for a better output, as well as the color selection that is inclined with the brand.

Image was created using Canva

If you manage to determine and combine appropriate elements in the right positions, then I believe the final output will be remarkable.

Just like what I have mentioned above, I experienced those dilemmas when I started designing my business card design proposal. It is not that easy but at least I was able to come up with various layouts that approve to my liking. Take a look at these designs that I have come up with using Canva.

DESIGN #1 - FRONT VIEW

Design 1 - FRONT.png

For the first layout, I chose a white background for the front card and black background for the back following the given business card sample by @rubencress in the article published by @acidyo

Looking at the sample concept, I assume that the client wants to have a simple yet impactful layout that could catch people's attention and increase engagement that's why I minimize the usage of unnecessary elements. Instead, I maximized the most important elements and put them in place.

Qr (Quick Response) code, Hive logo, slogan, and the bees are the few main elements that I manipulated. I tried placing the QR code in different locations, upper and lower right, and upper and lower left but I didn't like the placements. It seems like it will not be noticeable so I put it in the center with the hive logo and text 'HiveOnboard' beneath it. For the separation of text, I placed a line between the slogan and HiveOnboard.

"You are invited to 'bee' with us" is the first slogan that I thought of. I connected the 'bee' on the bee elements flying around the QR code. In that way, it will not be too formal but rather convincing and ignites interest.

DESIGN #1 - BACK VIEW

Design 1 - BACK.png

At the back, the layout is quite similar to the front. There is a QR code at the center which can be directed at the discord server of that community when you scan it. The slogan or goal of the community is clearly stated as well. Don't forget the other social media accounts, in that way it is easy for people to send their inquiries.

The back of the card is about the country we are going to direct it to. We are encouraged to put some elements related to that country or a specific community which I did but I'm not satisfied with the outcome. Instead of putting elements, what if we just focus on the communities logo to separate it from other communities? We all know that different communities in Hive have different logos as well. It is easy to determine and differentiate.

DESIGN #1 - ALL BLACK

FRONT VIEW

BACK VIEW

Layout 2 is just the same as design 1, the only difference is I changed the color to black for both the front and back. If you fancy elegance and formality then this color suits you very well.

DESIGN #2 - REPOSITIONING

FRONT VIEW

BACK VIEW

I tried repositioning the elements as well as rotating some. I placed the QR code at the left center, and at the right center is the text about the details. The same designs and elements but different arrangements.

BACK VIEW COUNTRY/COMMUNITY REPRESENTATION

Design 3 - BACK.png

Design 4 - BACK.png

Even though I am not satisfied with this, I attempted to make this one thinking that some may find it fancy. Here, I browse a popular heritage that can represent that specific country. Look at the result.

Business cards should be minimal and not overly designed that is why I don't recommend this format. Additionally, I didn't see any business cards with these backgrounds since they might look like a poster, a flyer, and not a business card.

DESIGN #3 - FRONT VIEW

Design 5 - FRONT.png

Black is my chosen palette for the background which makes the elements pop out. HiveOnboard text, Hive logo, and slogan are positioned on the left side. The Qr code on the other hand is in the opposite direction separated by a solid line. In addition, I place the tip of the Hive logo at the top and bottom to add some details.

DESIGN #3 - BACK VIEW

Design 5 - BACK.png

At the back, you can see that it is just the same as the other layouts then the only difference is that it is more formal looking which makes it a good choice. QR code at the center for accessibility and some minor elements to make it more business-looking.

I can say that black suits the business card very well but if you have any suggestions that can make this business card approved to your liking just comment your suggestions in the comment section! I will appreciate it very much.

DESIGN #4 - MODERN STYLE

FRONT VIEW

BACK VIEW

Out of all layouts that I did, this is my favorite. This is layout #4. Instead of solid black for the background, I used a gradient black for some additional lighting. Sometimes plain might bore you out so I think of some other ways to fix that problem. On the front view, I added some minor details which is a reminder for all people who will receive this business card that no matter who they are, and wherever they came from, Hive community will welcome them wholeheartedly as part of the growing family.

On the back side, it is just the same. There is a reminder that questions and inquiries are appreciated and not ignored. QR code for the Discord server of that community is represented at the lower left bottom part of the card as well as the social media accounts and slogan.

SAMPLE MOCKUPS

For better visualization, I provide mockups for different layouts that I have made. Which one do you like the most?
