Filipinos have a slight advantage compared to wealthier countries when it comes to Forex (FX). Because the Philippine Pesos (PhP) is trading much lower than the US Dollar (USD), earning Hive Dollar and converting it to the local fiat currency makes it much more profitable for us to get blogging / curation rewards. So, why don't we take advantage of this reality?
Home Stretch
November arrived ever so swiftly and quietly, like a thief in the night. I love this phrase. It describes perfectly well how much we know about the future. It also tells us something that we crypto enthusiasts live with everyday - the uncertainty of holding crypto in your portfolio. As a long-time #Hive holder, I take pride in having been here since day-1. From the moment that Hive went live, I felt like this is a good place to spend my leisurely hours, sometimes eating up into my work-space and sleep time. Like most Hive bloggers, investors, gamers, artists, curators, devs, traders, creators, etc., my hope is that this token does find strength to develop and break into the top 100 cryptocurrencies in the world. That would make me - and many others - extremely happy. And like most Hive holders, I will be cashing out part of my Hive if, when that happens. I don't think that it will happen this year, but that's the thing about imaginary scenarios, we don't really know what the future holds. So, my strategy in this situation is to just continue accumulating until that time comes when it is profitable to cash out. Until then....
HPUD
Until the price of Hive returns to its former glory and ATH levels, I will continue to stake and increase my Hive holdings. This way, it can continue to multiply via delegation rewards and inflation distribution APR. For this month's edition of #HPUD, I'm staking the Hive tokens in my wallet (all 352.473 liquid Hive) to increase my Hive Power (HP) from 2,695.76 HP
to 3,048.23 HP
.
Passive Income
Passive income has been at the core of my personal finance strategy these days. It is a really cool way to earn and grow one's assets and portfolio. I have control over how much I will invest and where, set my own limits and risk management tactics, and have an accurate understanding of the outcomes depending on certain scenarios and decisions. Scenarios are outside factors while decisions are what I basically control the most.
For clarity, passive income is when one earns money without requiring too much effort from you. Examples of passive income are interest from bank deposits, dividends from holding stocks, rent payment from properties you own, or royalties from music, etc. It's easy to understand, right? Here in the Philippines, we can enjoy passive income by investing small amounts of money in HDMF's Pag-ibig MP2 or other mutual funds/UITFs, such as BPI Philippine Equity Index Fund, which are fairly easy to get into with some forms to fill out and submit.
As a point of comparison and in the interest of diversification, I would like to add #Hive as another option for us. We don't really need to put in great effort or be actively involved in the space to earn a decent amount of passive investment money.
HBD savings give us a 15% APR distributed on a monthly basis, which is way better than what one can get from having to save one's money in a bank, while Hive gives out around 3% APR. Both of these are huge when it comes to compounding the value of your assets. I love compounding. What this essentially does is that it rolls over both the principal and returns generated by the APR and creates a snowball effect. Sometimes called #themiracleofcompounding, it magnifies returns by getting interest income from the interest you received from the previous cycle. Whether it's a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly cycle, compounding makes it super easy to grow the value of the assets we own. So, from a personal finance POV, staking/delegating Hive and putting your HBD in savings will help make us financially secure faster. However, it is not a get-rich-quick scheme, but a good old-fashioned way to becoming wealthy; the slow and steady way.
Customary disclaimer 😜
That said, this is not financial advice because of the risks involved in cryptocurrencies. Many countries, including the Philippines do not yet have clear cut guidelines and regulations on how to deal with it. The fact that this is a relatively new space in the financial world puts it into a gray area where one can easily get trapped. Aside from the fact that we don't really know what is on the right side of the trading chart, we should exercise extreme caution if you plan on putting money in this space. From my experience, digging deep into a cryptocurrency's tokenomics isn't enough. You should invest money ONLY if you are prepared to lose everything. And, I don't mean to say that this is the goal or expected outcome. Of course, we must try our very best to make sure that we profit, but just to be clear: our chances of getting the opposite outcome is as much in play here as taking in profits, so be wise and take the "do your own research" mantra seriously.
Conclusion
That's it for today's #HPUD blog post. I hope that you have gained some insight into the world of personal finance with this blog post. Personally, I will be happy just to pique your interest or whet your curiosity to look more into this subject. Whatever your situation in #life, wishing you more blessings and good vibes throughout the day.
Love and Peace

What's a good source of being updated with hive news/initiatives? Honestly, don't still know much about the people/org behind it, so would be great to be updated with whatever plans they have. :)
I think following witnesses will get you good info regarding chain news. Another one would be to follow community leaders. Generally, just take a look at trending posts once in a while and you will get the latest. 😀
Personally, I have a very limited idea about crypto currency. Basta Ang alam ko lang, may interest magsave Ng HBD Kaya NASA savings Ang HBD ko hehehe.
Malapit na akong manganak, I don't know what will happen baka ma withdraw if needed na talaga hehehe
The important thing is that you get the highest interest for your Hive / HBD until the time that you need it already. Yan ang kagandahan ng may naka-save ka. Kahit hindi sa Hive wallet at nasa bank ito or nasa Cooperative or invested sa stocks. Mahalaga ang may madudukot kapag nangailangan tayo. 😀
Ou nga, Sabi ko nga sa Asawa ko may savings Ako sa hive kung sakali need talaga. Pero habang kaya pa, stay lang sya Dito hehehe
Medyo mahirap lang makuha kung naka power up kasi 13 weeks pa bago mo makuha ito so not for emergency. But generally better to have HBD savings kung need mo ng mabilisan. 😄
Ou Hbd kasi 3 days lang.. Ang hive power or HP Diba Ang 13 weeks pa kapag magpower down.
😁😁😁
How do you plan it knowing that you have to wait 13 weeks to power down for you to sell some?
I don't really plan on powering down. Maybe just a small amount just for profit taking but the best strategy for me is just to not stake what I don't plan to take out. Kahit mag ATH na ang Hive ay half lang siguro ang kukunin ko. I just keep some of my Hive liquid for trading or cashing out in the future. But this is just me. !PIZZA
Hmm, that makes sense. I'm always thinking about this like what if the price became $5/HIVE sayang din 'yung profit hahaha.
This is just a what if and sample tho. I think it's impossible
for now.Good to be thinking about what ifs now. You never know when the right time will come. 😎
