Onboarding My Siblings On Hive

in Hive PH4 years ago

Last week, I started to introduced and onboard my siblings on this platform.

While having the usual chitchat with my older sister @mhejoanna, we have talked about writing since we have the same interest in it. I’ve mentioned that I went back on blogging 3 weeks ago. She knew that I was blogging on Steemit before and I even convinced her to join the platform, but she said that she’ll join soon since she’s still busy with her business. In fact, she accompanied me when I went to Steem Summit – Cebu two years ago, so she was also exposed to the happy community that I was in.

As we continued on our conversation, my brother @jrico, overheard us and also asked me that he also wants to have a Hive account. It was also a good timing because sir @guruvaj messaged in Hive PH discord that he still has 5 claim accounts. So, I immediately messaged him and asked if he could create a Hive account for my siblings. Again, thank you, sir @guruvaj for creating their account and delegating some HP to them. Thank you for the generosity and support to our newbies. :)

Then yesterday, when my younger sister @jeah, heard us talking about blogging, she got interested as well. She told me that she also want to join, then that’s when I remembered that I created her account 2 years ago because I convinced her before to join Steemit. Her account was created but she didn’t have the time to post because she was still studying that time. Good thing that I have saved her active key, so she was able to open her old account yesterday.

When they logged in to their Hive account, I taught them about the basics in Hive – how to post, the basic markdown techniques, different communities to subscribe, tagging, hive tokens (Hive, HP, and HP), and other important things that a newbie should know.

Onboarding someone is something that is not my interest as I don’t really have patience in explaining things. But knowing that they’re really interested to join the platform is what pushed me to extend my patience to share every bit of information that I know in this platform.

Before I onboarded them, I have told them several things to keep in mind as they start their Hive journey. And these are the following:

  • Although it is a fact that we can receive a monetary reward with sharing our content in Hive, we should keep in mind that we must not just share content for the sole purpose of earning. We could have it as our motivation to keep going, but it shouldn’t be our primary reason. We could also think of it as our investment.

I was glad that although they were amazed when they knew that they can earn while blogging, their primary purpose in joining this platform is to showcase their talent and to learn from others as well.

  • We should try to share quality content. I know that quality is subjective and I admit that there are also times that I don’t know if what I am posting has quality. But we can still learn to share quality content as we go along our journey.

  • We should try to be consistent. Consistent in posting and consistent in writing quality content. This is not an easy task as I also fail to that. But hopefully, we’ll also be able to learn it as well.

  • Engaging with other Hive users and communities. We should know how to interact with others because sharing our content is not enough. We must reciprocate in engaging with other users by reading their posts, leaving meaningful comments, and participating in different contests and initiatives.

I was only expecting to onboard one sibling, but I’ve got three of them who’s willing to dive into the wonderful world that I am in. It seems that I am onboarding all my family on this platform. LOL! Just wait, because I still have 5 siblings who are not yet here. A big family, eh? Hahaha.

I hope that they will also have fun being on this platform. And thank you for everyone who always shows support to our newly onboarded members. Thank you and keep blogging! :)

That's really a good thing, I try to invite my siblings too but, they just told blogging is not there hobbies.

When I invited them before, I thought they don't really have the interest in blogging.
Just let your siblings be. I guess it's better to refuse if it's not really your thing. Or maybe they just don't have the interest now but will have the urge to join later on. :)

I will not giving up until they come here with me.

Nice! Keep it going! If anyone of you have concerns, don't hesitate to reach out. I'll help in any way I can.

Thank you for the support, Kim. Well appreciated. ❤😊
Sa pagkakaron, giencourage pa nako silag explore sa platform ug basa2x ug quality blogs like yours kay we also want to add value to our community. :)
