Hello, my dear Hivers! It’s me again, @itsmejustine, your college blogger from Cebu. I know this may sound a bit OA because it’s a simple thing for others, but for me, it’s truly memorable. It marks a good decision I made in my life—choosing to become a “little teacher” for our final requirement.

Last week, our professor gave us a task for our major subject in Math: a demo teaching. Since we are Math majors, this was a big deal. At first, I was really scared because public speaking has always been my weakness. I tend to get mental blocks once I stand in front of people. But instead of letting fear stop me, I reminded myself that this was part of our finals, so I grabbed the opportunity. I stood in front of my classmates as their teacher, while they became my lively students.

Our professor grouped us, and luckily—or maybe fate—I was assigned as number one. That meant a lot of preparation. I had to think about what to say, how to manage a class, and how to catch my students’ attention, especially since I chose a Grade 7 topic.
I watched many demo-teaching videos to learn how to present smoothly and avoid mistakes. I even asked myself, “Why did I choose to be a teacher if I get this nervous?” But deep inside, I knew this was part of the journey.

These were my beloved students—and of course, there I was, standing in front of them as their “cute” teacher, even though they were taller and bigger than me. 😅
I didn’t expect that I could actually do it. My voice was almost gone after teaching because I naturally speak softly, and my professor even asked me to speak louder. Still, I finished the demo, and that alone made me proud. Afterward, I realized I was starting to feel comfortable—so comfortable that I felt like I could teach again and again.

This experience taught me that sometimes, we really need to step out of our comfort zone to unlock bigger opportunities. Overall, my demo teaching was a success. Of course, the nervousness was there—it was my first time—but I know that with practice, I’ll improve and gain more confidence.
Always believe in yourself.
That's amazing @itsmejustine looking forward to hearing more about your journey
