Everyone knows that there are unpredictable times in life when we are fortunate. This kind of luck isn't just a passing experience; it has the power to completely rewrite our universe and change our lives in ways we never could have imagined. And I used to be one of the lucky people that had a lucky break in life that changed my life dramatically.

From 2015 until 2017, I was employed as a Customer Care Specialist at Save 'N Earn Wireless, a retailer that specialized in mobile devices, accessories, and gadgets. My responsibilities included answering consumer questions, making product recommendations, resolving complaints, and guaranteeing outstanding customer support that enhanced client pleasure. It was a position that required effective handling of a variety of customer needs as well as great communication abilities.

And in the same year, after I resigned at Save 'N Earn, I got hired at Watsons, a well-known health and beauty retail chain that offers a variety of personal care, skincare, and healthcare products. My role was as a sales associate, where my responsibilities included assisting customers with their purchases, providing product recommendations, and ensuring the store was well-stocked and organized. However, my time there was brief—I worked for only six months and didn’t make it to regularization.

Since 2011, I had already gained work experience even before the two companies I mentioned. However, it was after my time at Watsons that an unexpected breakthrough was about to unfold.

My manager gave me the chance to work in her home when my contract with Watsons expired, helping with cleaning and dog care while I was still looking for work. I saw it as a chance to support my two oldest sons, even though I knew the pay would be minimal. I was already a single mother at the time, and their father had never given me anything. But I never begged for support; instead, I hustled and worked hard to make sure we could live.

When I started working at my manager's house, I met Juan, the welder, while they were renovating the place. Then a week after he joked me that he had a Korean client who was trying to find someone to chat with. Because I was preoccupied with my work and didn't want to waste time with strangers, I initially paid little attention to him. He stopped talking to me after I said no. But two months later, he requested for my phone number. He said he will call me in two days regarding the arrival of construction materials for my manager's house, so I handed it to him without hesitation. Not until I got a message from an unidentified number a few minutes later.

I wasn't able to reply immediately because I didn't have enough balance, but two hours later, I received a 500 peso load. Kenneth then called to ask if I had received it, and I thanked him before he ended the call. I quickly responded to his message, saying:

He never replied after that. A month later, he called again and asked if we could go out for dinner. At that time, I was feeling really depressed because I still couldn't find a job, so I accepted his offer.

He picked me up on his motorbike, and we drove to Panglao for dinner. We shared stories about our lives, and by around 9 p.m., he dropped me off at home. He was a nice guy, and to be honest, he was a gentleman.
