But let me introduce myself first. My name is Honeylyn Obando Patalinghug, 28 and was born on September 26, 1995. I am currently residing at barangay Mainit, City of Naga, Cebu. Both of my parents are born on the same town as I am. Growing up wasn’t that easy and it takes a lot of courage to pursue my dreams and thankfully my parents were able to send me to school. I finished my tertiary level year 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management and recently I also took up Diploma in Professional Education. And after finishing college, that’s when the reality of life started. There’s no way of knowing of what life will be like or what it will be. Let us all cheer up!

Little did I know that while writing this makes me want to go back to my teenage days were life shines so bright. Flashing back, I was enthusiasts when it comes to academics and sports and it makes me delighted remembering those days because those were the days, I met a lot of friends, best friends and my husband. My husband was my schoolmate, a year older than me and he was also into sports specifically basketball. Before I didn’t realize I do have some talents and sports not until my close friend told me to try it. And voila! I made it, I won as Miss Intramurals and my team also won as a champion in the volleyball category. It was the time I felt amazing, it’s a different type of fulfillment that I gain from joining those activity as a first-time participant. Those were the beginning of knowing myself more because I able to discover the unknown “me” I also learned how to socialize, interact in front of other people and being more confident. Let’s put to our mind the things or the chances we didn’t take.

Moving forward,
I am so much grateful to the life I have right now because I able to make some of my manifestations into reality though life isn’t that perfect and is not always a fairy tale but it fulfills my soul as a human. Now that I almost in my 30’s, it feels like I have a ticking bomb ready to explode anytime, the pressure, the frustrations and overthinking will really drive me crazy. Can you even imagine how much pressure I am right now thinking that in my age I still haven’t commit financial stability and financial freedom. But I do believe that our existence has a purpose in this world, and this purpose is to stand as a foundation to my family since my mother is now a bedridden. Now, I am the provider and sometimes I even question myself if I really deserve this kind of life because there are times it suffocates me but seeing them will sets the light and I sees it even clearer. They are now my inspiration to strive more because they are part of the pieces that I dreamed of. I know only few will understand the situation I am in right now, it’s hard but it will be worth it.

While having those ups and downs, I thank God for giving me such a loving and understanding husband. I met him year 2009, he was my schoolmate and we started as a friend. He was like a best friend to me because he jokes a lot and makes those funny faces. We even faced a lot judgements from other people for the reason that we might not finish High School because we take our relationship seriously that time but yeah! They failed from those assumptions because we even finished our college courses.

As we all know, there is no fairy tale in this life even in relationships, so our romantic relationship isn’t perfect. But we stand firm for 15 years now and those years were a roller-coaster of feelings and emotions we shared. We already had our civil wedding year 2016 and later on we had decided to push through to our church wedding that happened May 2022. It was a moment full of blast and blessings! I didn’t expect it to happen the way it turns out because it makes you dizzy from planning to budgeting. So, it’s such a blessing to meet a wedding coordinator (Weddings and Beyond-Cebu) who is very considerate to your budgets and wedding details. The event went smoothly as they organized it so well so our wedding went amazingly thanks to their good works. We had a blast!

So, here’s a little magic word that you can bring wherever you go, “This too shall pass” I’ve been holding unto these words long ago and up ‘till now because it is like a power that I need to activate whenever I feel drained and hopeless to the situation I currently in. As we all know, giving up is such a negative word and emotion but always bear in mind that it won’t always be this way. Everybody goes through difficult times and there are situations we can’t control so let it be, it will pass through. Remember, “tough times will not last but tough people do. “

Now, I am grateful to my close friend Lynrose Nacman @Helianthus-chloe because she introduces me the Hive. I have seen her do the blogging and it interests me since I am into social media platform and I also love taking pictures wherever I go so it really suits me. After some thought, I had decided to join because it allows me to share some travel experience and of course to share also my life as a wife and a breadwinner.
