Who is Glaiza?

Hello! I’m Glaiza Mae Custodio and I look forward to sharing my journey with you. I’m an 18-year-old first-year student studying the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management course at Cebu Technological University. Ever since I was little, I have always been intrigued to make people feel that they belong, and this is why I am in this field.

For me, Hospitality Management is not just a degree, but the convergence of my passion to serve people along with my thirst to know the technical aspects of the hospitality domain. This program helped me learn how to communicate and work together as a team creatively, anticipation and waiting, as it involves practicing and preparing in order to play a character similar to mine.

Being older, I’ve learned now there’s so much more that I can learn and do, and finally, I view every new day as a new opportunity to become a better version of myself. As student, my new road has only just began and I look forward to experiences that lay ahead.

Travelling Side of Mine

Most of the time, I really do like travel just like my sister. I always looked up to her as she always have confidence on everything she do. I am grateful to my family and extended family for supporting us always.

My Bookish Passion with Cooking

If there’s one thing you should know about me it’s that I love books. Books have been my refuge, my inspiration. Wattpad is my favourite platform, where you can find thousands of stories about drama, romance, suspense, etc. I read on the Internet most of the time, and spend whole nights reading a story and waking up till the dawn.

Books allow me to escape reality and live countless lives through the characters and their experiences. They challenge me, make me laugh, and even make me cry. It can be a funny romantic comedy or dark thriller, but somehow books always find a way to touch my heart.

I love to cook, besides reading. I am a Hospitality Management student with a passion for recipes and discovering new foods. Cooking is a creative process, and experimenting with flavors brings excitement and satisfaction.

I think there’s a connection to people with food and a connection that goes beyond just what you eat, it is extending beyond that.” I always feel like a part of me gets cooked into every dish that I make, and it makes me feel good to share it with others. It’s something that I continue to learn with and develop skills in, as I know this passion will be a massive part of my future career.

Why I Joined Hive

For the first time I heard about Hive, I thought it would help me improve my writing and interact with like-minded people. I always found writing as a way to express my thoughts and feelings but I want to dig deeper. By joining Hive I am challenging myself to develop and to nurture my creativity and confidence in writing.

Hive will allow me to give more exposure on what I have experienced, insight, and what I love. I want to write about that things that matters to me, about my life as a student, my love for books, about my experimentation in the kitchen. I feel that writing on Hive is a healthy process toward reaching my personal and professional objectives.

So, this is another reason I joined Hive to be able to learn together with a supportive community. There is a space for people from all walks of life to meet, tell their stories and motivate each other. When you have a community that you are a part of, you naturally want to produce your very best work for your coworkers.

My Ideas on Contributing to Hive

Writing, and just creativity, is a huge passion of mine, and thus I feel like I would have much to offer to the Hive community. So upon discovering this page, one of my ambitions was to chronicle my life as a Hospitality Management student. Whether from the classroom or the real world my journey is documented with the hopes it can inspire or act as guidance for others on a similar journey.

Book reviews/recommendations (there are a lot there, especially among Wattpad stories. Books have enriched my life significantly and I want to follow in their footsteps and share stories that I like with you. That’s why we all take away at least one lesson from a meaningful read, even if it’s a fiction novel about love, friendship, or passion.

Finally, I would like to provide personal reflections and lessons from life as part of my contribution. I think I have something to share that can encourage and inspire others because I am a young adult at school and in life.

The People Who Brought Me to Hive

My path to Hive would not have been possible without some inspiring people that guided and supported me. I was first introduced to Hive through my sister, @marieyanlab. The same lady that told me to come, join, and experience this wonderful platform because she knew that it would be a great channel for my creative side and writing passion.

I’m grateful to Ms. @jeannmazing who invested time to orient us to Hive and its potential. Her wisdom and support made me believe I could begin this new phase in my journey. Having these incredibly supportive people beside me has made my journey to Hive far more meaningful.
