Hello , how's your day everyone? I am here again to share my trip in Cebu City at Senior Citizens' Park.
The Senior Citizens' Park was the project of the City Govenment. It is not as wide as Plaza Independencia but the golden agers can spend their time there.
The senior citizens have their own park where they can visit when they are bored. Even teenagers or adults can visit there. Right now they have chapel for elderly people. When I was in college, I had visited there but the chapel was not yet built. It was just a park with benches around.
Santo Niño Chapel (at Senior Citizens' Park, Cebu City)
Santo Niño Chapel was opened on the 17th of April, 2022. Archbishop Jose' S. Palma who blessed the chapel on that day where senior citizens can pray inside the chapel or attend a mass.
There is a mass inside where the seniors can attend the mass comfortably.
The park has many trees around where they can smell fresh air even though it is located in the city.
I really like the design of the roofs of the chapel. By any chance, the design was inspired of the crown of Santo Niño (The Young Jesus) and the curved construction of Cebu-Mactan International Airport.
I had seen elderly people went inside. They pray with sincerity to Senior Santo Niño. That's how devoted Cebuanos to Senior Santo Niño. Their faith is so strong. They believed wholeheartedly because of what they had experienced miracles in their life.
Every January, Cebu City is so crowded because of the fiesta that Cebuanos celebrated which is called Sinulog Festival in the honored of Senior Santo Niño. Anyway, mostly Cebuanos are Catholic where they adapted the religion from the Spaniards during colonization era.
I think the reasons why they built the Santo Niño Chapel so that the elderly cannot be distracted from others. In the Santo Niño Church, there are many people visited there. So, the seniors can pray or attend mass in their own park instead in the Santo Niño Church.
There are many benches around where you can relax after walking around in Cebu City.
Features:
- There's a chapel for the seniors who are devoted to Senior Santo Niño.
- There are many benches around.
- There are food stools with drinks to buy when you're hungry or thirsty.
- There are trees as well as shield.
Beware!
People who go there must be cautious because there are many pickpockets around. Then, they also snatch jewelries even though earrings. I had seen before inside the jeepney, A passenger who got snatch of her pair of earrings which was gold. Her ears got bloody after snatching her earrings. The woman was shaking after the incident that she had experienced. It was happend in the Colon Street, Cebu City. A street that has known of bad doings. The same as in Carbon Market which is near to Seniors' Park. Also, there are many bad doings there because a lot of people bought goods there. Most of them are retailers and regular customers. All I can advise, always be careful. I share this not to make others afraid but for awareness of everyone. Not all places are safe because some people live with no job and education. Others are drug addict. So, it's dangerous to go somewhere.
Therefore, the adults or the grandchildren must accompany with the grandparents anytime they go outside in Cebu City because we cannot predict the future. Sometimes it will happen unexpectedly which is dangerous for us.
How to get there?
The screenshot of the location of Senior Citizens' Park
Location: 100 M.C Briones Street, Cebu City
- Just ride a taxi, mini bus or jeepneys. But it's better to ride a taxi to exactly locate the place.
It is near in the Cebu City Hall, Santo Niño Church or Carbon Market. So, it is easy to go there. If you’re from Carbon Market, just go straight going to Quezon Boulevard or else just take a look to the screenshot location and see the landmarks nearby of Senior Citizens' Park.
Therefore, Cebu City has a lot of tourist spots to visit but it's dangerous to walk around in the crowded streets because there many people watching behind your back. Some are planning to harm you or to snatch things from you. What can I advise that it's necessary that you must have companion while visiting there. Then, never shown your jewelries. Keep it at your home always when you visit crowded places.
Anyway, thank you all for spending time reading my blog. I hope you've learned some information which I have shared in this blog. May God bless you all.
