The Beers of Thailand: Vote for Your Favorite Thai Beer!

in BEER2 months ago

Since, as you know, I love traveling to Thailand and enjoying a good beer, I wanted to ask you all which of the beers listed below you already know and, more importantly, which one is your favorite when in Thailand. I've listed the ones I'm familiar with, as well as a beer brewed locally in Thailand.

For starters, we have the classic standards like Singha, Chang, Leo, and Tiger. These are the big players in the Thai beer scene and are found just about everywhere — from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the laid-back beach bars of Phuket. Each has its own unique vibe: Singha, for example, is like the "old guard" with its crisp, slightly bitter flavor, while Chang, with its higher alcohol content and malty sweetness, has a bit of a reputation as the party-goer's choice (I've had a fair share of Changovers, trust me!). Leo, on the other hand, feels like the balanced middle-ground — smooth, easy-drinking, and a safe bet when you're not sure what to pick.

Then there’s Tiger, which, while not technically Thai (it hails from Singapore), is a pretty common sight around here too. It’s got that clean, straightforward lager taste that pairs well with spicy Thai dishes. And let's not forget about the Japanese Asahi. This one is more of an “imported standard,” super popular in Japanese restaurants or those chic rooftop bars in Bangkok — crisp, dry, and perfect when you're in the mood for something a bit different.

Now, a bit of a wildcard here: San Miguel Light. Originally from the Philippines, it’s become a staple in Thailand, especially among those who prefer something lighter with fewer calories. I’ve seen it a lot in the more touristy areas and it’s great for those hot Thai afternoons when you want a refreshing drink without the heaviness.

Finally, there's Archa, the underdog of Thai beers. I’ve noticed it a few times on the bottom shelf of convenience store fridges, but I've yet to try it. It’s definitely one of those local brews that flies under the radar — a bit cheaper, a bit more local flavor, but still an unknown for me.

So, now it’s up to you! Use your $BEER token stake to vote for your favorite and let’s see which one takes the crown. Cheers to our next trip to Thailand and discovering more great beers! 🍻

Hey @louis88, here is a little bit of BEER from @detlev for you. Enjoy it!

We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .

Too bad I’m only familiar with Tiger & San Miguel Light… between these two, I’m going for Tiger 🐯 😉

I don't drink Beer, only with Lemonade, but I voted for Chang, it was the favorite of our friends.
