Here's my entry for the BeerSaturday 395 with a Belgian Rousse brewed by L'Apothicaire not far from Montreal. It's called Dubbel. I hadn't seen this brewery's distinctive, old-newspaper-style design for some month. So it was time to try one of their new creations.
Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. L'Apothicaire is located in St-Jacques de Montcalm, not far from Montreal. It's an area I don't know too much about, so maybe it's time to take a look. That's what I said the last time I featured one of their beers. I didn't go though 😀.
Dubbel (L'Apothicaire)
📜 Brewery / Brasserie :
L'Apothicaire was founded in 2020 in the Lanaudière region in Quebec by Dave Bérard and Louis Rocheleau. Not being fans of IPAs, they wanted to brew more malty, somewhat traditional beers. This brewery also stands out for the design of its larger cans with an old newspaper style.

Dubbell is a Belgian redhead with 6.5% alcohol. Its name is a direct reference to its origins. The term dubbel refers to a type of Belgian Trappist beer. It's a strong brown ale with an alcohol content of 6-8%, characterized by a fruity, slightly sweet flavor. In the glass, the dark brown color is quite cloudy. The foam is very light. On the palate, it has a nutty, fruity flavor. For me, it lacked a little effervescence, but perhaps that was due to the can and also slightly too sweet. But for this type of beer is normal, not really my style.
Design
As I said in the introduction, the design of L'Apothicaire looks like an old newspaper (apart from the beer tasted this summer, see BeerSaturday 375 - Ale Blonde (L'Apothicaire)). Old stories and advertisements like Vin Morin Creso-Phates can be found on this can. This “medicine” really did exist, see Dr. Ed. Morin & Cie (only in French). I like it a lot, there's plenty to read and learn while enjoying your beer.
Morin & Cie.
Have a great week. / Très bonne semaine à tous.
Cheers / Santé / Salud 🍻
Sounds very interesting. I currently suspect I prefer beers with less malt because I think malty is more sweet than Weat Coast IPAs.
I generally like red ale, but this was a little too sweet for my taste... During the winter, NEIPAs go down better 😀
Have a great day
I'm intrigued by L'Apothicaire's unique old newspaper style design,it's a fantastic way to stand out.The description of the Dubbel sounds delicious, although I'm curious about the lack of effervescence you mentioned.I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for this Belgian Rousse next time I'm in the area. Thanks for sharing!
For the effeversence, I don't know if it's normal or it's
because of the can... I'm always disappointed when I don't get a nice foam. In my head, nice creamy foam, good beer... but is it the truth? 🤔
Thanks for your comment.
Have a lovely day
They've surely got a nice design for the beer 🍺
It looks like a beer I will try but won't be my favorite too.
Enjoy
I love red beers, but this one's a little too sweet for my taste, but it's the type of beer, Dubbel, that has that touch.
Have a great week

yummy i like it enjoy
Not my favorite beer, but it did some good this weekend 😀
Have a lovely week
Fun can design. And looks like a decent beer. I like the old newspaper look and old ads. This was a popular thing for awhile back in the day. Some old ads that you just don't believe and then some intentionally false newly written humorous ads.
Yes, interesting to see these old ads, I was curious to see if Vin Morin had really existed.
Have a great week
The old newspaper design in the beer can makes it look as if it's a book not knowing it's a beer can hahahaha. But the beer looks yummy. Enjoy
Yes, with this can you have something to read while you drink that beer and the person you're drinking it with is annoying 😅
Have a lovely Monday
Hahaha, you are funny. Wow, you are right. But it's an old newspaper 😂😂
