Caturday on Saturday

Now there is a little sad but interesting period in my house. The hierarchy of my animals is changing literally before our eyes. This is due to the fact that those of them who appeared in the house were among the first and held a leading position for a long time became old enough to retire. It happened almost at the same time among cats and dogs.

My cat Katya was the first cat. For more than ten years, she was the full-fledged mistress of my house and enjoyed indisputable authority among both cats and dogs. But this winter she firmly said that she was tired and wanted only warmth and peace.

Then the younger black cat Fairy took the leading positions. There are two more males in the house, but they are too young and do not have the necessary authority. Fairy has also been living with us for quite a long time. She gets along great with other animals. Maybe she doesn't have the same authority as Katya, but she tries very hard. Now she is trying to control everything that happens in the house. It's very noticeable to me. I got used to Katya's behavior, but it wasn't typical for Fairy. Of course, in order to understand what is happening, you need to know my animals and their habits well. A stranger will not see anything new or unusual in their behavior.

I didn't know that groups of house cats had hierarchies, it's something I learned recently but I still don't fully understand since I've had dogs all my life, cats really have very distinct personalities; Fairy has a beautiful coat, I hope everything normalizes soon in your home with the change and everyone gets along well 🐈‍⬛ 💗

As far as I could see, there is always a hierarchy in animals. The most difficult moments happen if they start competing for power. Fortunately, I rarely had such problems in my house.

How come male cats don't fight with each other :)

No. These are two brothers whom I took from the shelter, and they get along perfectly with each other.

It's known that the females are always dominant in cat colonies so I'm not surprised that Fairy has done this. When my eldest female died, the younger has also been more dominant although she fights less with the others, who are all male, but I think that she has a softer personality in general

It's amazing to see it. It's especially bright in my house, because 15 dogs and 4 cats live with me. These are two rather large families.

I don't know how you keep the peace with the dogs! I have no dogs and 7 cats. The last cat is a stray that can't or won't leave but getting my cats to accept him is still problematic after more than one year. I have one female and 6 males but it was actually worse with 2 females and 4 males

There are sometimes conflicts between dogs. But there were never any problems between dogs and cats. My dogs ando our cats!)

What beautiful photos, especially the one of the black cat. All cats are beautiful, but black cats have a special charm 😍 It's good that you already know the personality of your cats and even know how they handle the hierarchy between them, I've never had more than one cat, so I always see this type of coexistence between several with curiosity 😳 I hope that despite the changes and the change of authority, your cats manage to find harmony 🤗💚
