Hey Caturday Cat Hooman's.!!
My hooman just went on a rescue mission a few weeks ago. 5 more kittens and a momma kitty in need rescued/saved. So he told me I could post about it now that the momma kitty "Patches" and her five babies are healthy and out of harms way.
She is a cute little yearling who has paid the feral toll with a teenage pregnancy.
This rescue began on April fools day. A feral stray cat (Patches) had wandered into our neighbors yard, starving and suffering what they thought was a bloated belly from malnutrition. She was a sweet and friendly little calico. But obviously homeless and hungry. They took her to the veterinarian and were told she was not pregnant. And also told to bring her back in a few weeks for spay due to just finding her. That they had to wait in case she was someones lost pet. Also her poor condition and the meds and shots they gave her. The hoomans all agreed that she looked pregnant but believed the vets diagnosis. They contacted all the nearby homesteads and she was not someones lost pet. On the very day she was to go back to the vets for her operation. April 13th. They could not find her. Our phone rang and they asked for my hoomans help. So off they went leaving me sitting in the window as usual... "Assholes"
Female Cats
70 cat years / 13 hooman years ago I was a female teenage feral rescued by @krazzytrukker and his life partner @pooky-jax
Really I rescued them. They were a hot mess of hooman dysfunctionality. You can read about the way I changed their lives with this --> Link
So with these hoomans I adopted as my keepers. I won the kitty lottery and did not have to go thru the horrible life of a stray female kitty.
My @krazzytrukker told me the story of this rescue so now you are getting it from my K.P.O.V. (kitty point of view)
The Rescue
Krazzy went next door only to find that they had located Patches. She came out from under the house. No longer bloated and with blood stains on her hind quarters. Clearly She had just given birth in the last 10-12 hours since they had seen her the night before. KrazzyTrukker crawled under their house to investigate. Patches was so young and skinny in poor health from starvation that the hoomans had little hope of the kittens being alive. It was also a cold night. In the lower 50°f / 10°c range. They feared the worst. These hoomans should know by now that us kits are survivors. We are really tough.
KrazzyTrukker could not find a blood trail. And no sign of new born kittens. But my hooman KT has learned so much from me and my kitty pride that he knew what to do. He asked Patches to show him where they were. They sent Patches under the house and he loved on her and made her feel safe about him being there. It took a little time (about 20 minutes) for Patches to show him where the babies were. She went up inside the flooring insulation under the house. KT then cut a hole in the heavy plastic underlayment. Patches let out a low growl. So he knew she was protecting something up inside there. He gently reached up inside with one hand, knowing she might bite to protect what he hoped were live newborn kittens. He pulled one live kitten out and handed it to @pooky-jax his wife and she said it looked good and healthy. So he then took both hands and reached up inside to scoop out the other four babies. Patches came right out the same hole very concerned and letting out meows of warning. We made sure that the kittens stayed in her sight as we inspected them. They were in great condition as the photos show. My hooman KT said it was such a great feeling to scoop them all out alive and healthy. The babies are three weeks old today. Sleeping in a warm safe space...

Sanctuary
They are now in a sanctuary made from the neighbors tool shed. 3 weeks later (today) their eyes are now open and they are starting to crawl around. Patches has done a wonderful job with them and is being spoiled by the neighbors. She is scheduled for a future spay operation.
I knew that my Krazzy Hooman would help them. He would not have given up till he found those kittens and made sure they were safe.
That is not just my Kitty Point of View.
This is...
Yes! They look awesome! My vet told me that 4 weeks is the peak feeding time for kittens and that's when mom can lose weight dramatically, even when well-fed. I just stuffed my teenage mom with as much kitten food as she could handle and we got through it
Yaaaaaaaay! Great story. Good work. What a joy to read.
My Hoomans are still assisting the neighbors with this kitten rescue. Just a few days ago they helped give all 4 of the kittens flea baths. And they have ringworm so this is an ongoing thing. Meds and creams. Cleaning and bleaching their sanctuary shed... Uhhhgg.!!
I believe it is week 7 or 8 since the rescue..?
Momma Patches just had her spay operation and is currently separated from her babies. Not a happy bunch at the moment but they will be happily reunited soon and are receiving much love from the hoomans.
