Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and outlying areas!
Welcome to the final Caturday of the winter season — at least if you're here in the Northern Hemisphere! On Monday we welcome Spring, and with it, longer days and a gradual warming... and you all know how much we cats love our warmth!
Afternoon sun in the "Cat Condo!"
We'll be glad to see winter go for another year! Warmer days also means I get to start going outside on the deck with the Hoomans again... one of my favorite things. They don't let me roam loose, of course, because we have lots of eagles and coyotes (and worse!) around here.
Continuing to Consider the "Community" Series!
Lest week, I briefly mentioned the idea of potentially starting an ongoing series of articles about Hive's many communities, visiting and "studying" them, one at a time. I know so many of us slowly accumulate bits of Hive-Engine tokens in our wallets... but how, and to what end?
Playing in the stairwell...
If nothing else, I would like to learn more about some of these communities I have gradually become "invested" in... and it's also an opportunity to dissect what makes some communities successful, and others not so much.
We talk a lot about "building community," but who does it well, and who doesn't? And what is each one hoping to accomplish? And why do some take off running... and then suddenly dies?
These are all good questions, I think!
Smudge playing peek-a-boo. Yes, we've scratched the heck out of that door!
Speaking of Communities...
Yes, we even have a Cat community of our own: Hive Cats!
No we don't have a token or anything fancy like that, but we are trying to build a bit of a gathering place for Hivelandia's cat lovers. Up to 175 members, so far... hope to keep building! And yes, it's definitely a learning experience.. as well as a lot of work... to get a community established!
Sunshine!
Meanwhile, I am getting ready for my birthday! It's getting very close, now... but that's for a separate post!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful rest of your Caturday... and weekend!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?
These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Remember, you can also "cross-post" your cat posts to them!
HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!
Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!
Caturday Community by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS! It has a lot of subscribers but is not very active.
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community; it's there, but not very active.
Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the recently formed Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and has quite a bit of cat content!
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!

Well enjoy your special day once it arrives.
The community topic has been around my head too, and I know others as well. On PeakD you can scroll through them to find the one or other, but it is rather confusing. As humans we tend to ignore the small, not established ones and go where the ppl are. Usually the big communities. Another factor is the incentive. Sure, some don't care about the payout as much as others, but again, human mind is dragged to where the votes may linger. Others may have a hard time contributing to one community only. Or they even feel like they can't start to connect without looking like a gold digger. Idk, just thoughts. To me I would like a better way of finding communities, topic related. I have not a concept or community-exclusive content, some preferences so I roam around like a stray sometimes lol.
I found interesting having separate comunity for each topic.
I'm new around here and learning how stuff works. So don't bother to spray water on my face if I'm posting wrong.
Im also new to blogging and want to use it to also learn more about cats routine.
Everyday i learn something new and a good way to memorize is to write down.
I'm planing to share what I learn in a funny way, create some memes with my cat pics and also share some gifs related to what I'm writing.
Suggestions and guidence are welcome.
Meow
Welcome to Hive @kedleona!
It definitely takes a bit of time to learn the ropes... and no worries, we don't use the water bottle around here!
Best way to expand your reading circle is just to click on one the tags below a post that interests you and see where it takes you. For example, click on #cats and see where it takes you! Chances are, you'll find someone to follow! And then their posts will show up in your personal feed.
Also check my reply to @bulldog-joy, above!

Tks!

Thank you @bulldog-joy!
Communities are good for collecting content around a particular topic (like cats!), especially if they are somewhat actively moderated by their founders. As such, they are also a great catalysts for finding those to follow who have similar interests to you.
As for the incentives, a lot of people on Hive are more inclined to scroll through their feed, rather that visit the actual communities... so it can be a bit of a double-edged sword. Community building is not only a lot for work, it's also endless work. It has taken me well over a year to build the Hive Cats Community to just 175-ish subscribers... and I figure I'll need to keep going to 500 before it truly gains a life of its own.
I generally post to a variety of communities, depending on what I am writing about, although I always include the tags #cats and #hivecats.
=^..^=
I can imagine that it takes a bit longer to establish a community. Great effort though. I go through my feeds as well, you are right, barely visiting the communities on its own. I do once in a while but there is so much content to dig through and having little time often, I wanna get an overview of all the communities. 😄
The Caturday is just posts on Saturday?!
Hi @kedleona!
Well, Caturday posts are technically speaking for Saturday... but cat-related posts are for any day of the week! We have both a Hive Cats and a Hive Pets community, both of which are good places to post... the tags #cats and #hivecats and #hivepets are always in style!
=^..^=
Thank you. I think I gotcha
Hurrah! Spring is nearly here.
(It's been a lovely sunny day here too!)
It's so great to have those warmer days again! And to feel that warm sunshine on our bellies!
