Curator Cat: A Very Sad Caturday — Goodbye Daisy!

in Caturday4 months ago

Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

Welcome to the Caturday update for this Memorial Day weekend. I hope your holiday weekend is treating you well!

Shadow and Daisy

It is a very sad day around our place as the Hoomans ended up taking our dog Daisy to the vet one final time.

Daisy may have been a dog but she was a friend to cats as well, but she was getting very old and could not walk well anymore and have become incontinent after suffering a mild stroke, a few weeks ago.

We said a tearful goodbye because her quality of life had declined to the point that we could see nothing but confusion, pain and sadness in her eyes.

We give our furry friends the gift of love when we adopt them into our household, but at the end of the equation we end up having to give them a different gift of love... that of not letting them suffer needlessly at the end of life.

Shadow as a tiny kitten with Daisy, a few days after he arrived here

Daisy was there to greet me and serve as "surrogate mom" for me as a tiny kitten when I first arrived from the animal shelter. She was patient and gentle with me, even when I would be an unruly young cat.

We would quite often take naps together, and I particularly appreciated her during the winter months when she was nice and warm to sleep next to!

Kitten meets dog!

The house feels a little emptier without Daisy here, even though it seemed like she was "barely here" for the past 2-3 weeks.

The Hoomans have decided that there will be no more dog here, only cats from this point forward. And with Daisy now gone, it seems likely that the plans for a new kitten (or maybe two) in the house will be carried out sooner rather than later.

And that's where we're going to leave it for this week. We'd like to think that Daisy is in a better place now, able to run free again and playing with her dog friends who have gone before her!

Fare well, Daisy! You will be missed!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communities!

If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?

These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!

HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!

Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!

Awe, I am so so so sorry for your loss. Daisy was a beautiful companion for a long time. I am sure your heart and home feel empty right now. It is never easy to say goodbye but I believe they will be waiting for us to join them one day on the other side. Love and hugs to you and your family. ♥

Thank you for the kind words @sunscape!

There is a quiet here today, and there probably will be, for a while... but in time we will just remember Daisy with full and grateful hearts.

Sorry for your loss!

Thank you! We have always been blessed with dogs who were wonderful and willing cat companions, as well. Daisy will be missed... by all of us!

Sorry for your loss curatorcat ..

Thanks Mike! You know well how it is when we lose one of our fur friends... and Daisy was with us for a long time.

=^..^=

Very heart braking, but knowing they had a along, safe and happy life with you should ease the loss a bit. It is really nasty when they go too young. But even then you were blessed having them for the time you did.

We here at the Pookyville Cat Ranch family send love and healing to yours. The worst thing about our fur family members is that they do not live long enough... 💔

Thank you! Indeed, they do not live long enough... even though 17 was an impressive age for a dog of Daisy's size.

=^..^=

Very hard thing letting pet friends go. But there comes a time when quality of life is the determining factor. She was a very special dog.

She was very dear to all of us, Hoomans and Fur Friends, alike... but it was her time.

=^..^=

I'm sorry to hear about Daisy. It's heartbreaking when pets have to leave us. 💔

Thank you! It was a difficult day yesterday... she was such an intricate part of the family.

=^..^=

Yes, and that's how it should be. ❤️

Goodbye sweet Daisy 😢🙏
Ps Thank you for sharing all these cat 🐱 initiatives, I knew none of them

You're welcome! Daisy will be missed, but she will always be in our hearts!

=^..^=

Condolences.

Thanks @fiberfrau!

It's so sad and heartbreaking.
