Greetings Fabulous Felines and Homans of Hivelandia and outlying communities!

I hope this week has been treating you well as we enter the second half of the year. Of course we have also arrived at the weekend and we all know what that means: it means Saturday is Caturday!

It is a lovely summer day here at the CuratorCat house, and we're all enjoying the open windows and the sunshine and the breeze flowing through the house. No better thing for a cat to do on a day like this but to lay around and find whatever sun puddles are available!

Sometimes, though, I just like to ham it up for the camera!

Meanwhile, the Homans are very busy with their gardening projects outside and that leaves me in peace to get into whatever trouble I can inside the house! I particularly like to get in the middle of the Mom-Hooman's crafts area, because it is filled with lots of "little things."

All told though, I would rather just take a nap!

Half a Year Gone... What's Next?

And so, we have completed the first half of the year, and now we have the second half to look forward to.

It would be easy to say that our own Hive token is "up" since the beginning of the year... but let's not forget that our starting point was pretty much the low point in a very long time. I'd like to think that given where we were on January 1st there really was only one direction for things to progress, and that would have been up!

But hey, I'm of the mindset that every little bit helps.

Will there be food soon?

Thankfully, I'm not of the crypto trading persuasion, I am just somebody who is hoping to build a small balance through publishing and participation and such. And so I'm mostly focused on reaching some of my own modest goals here on Hive.

Of course, those goals might be easier to reach if the markets were doing a little bit better but I find some solace in the fact that regardless of what the markets might be doing ultimately we keep earning tokens through our participation and our curation efforts.

I'm still hoping to reach 4,200 HivePower by the end of the year although that goal seems to be slowly slipping away from me as I am only a little bit over 3,255 HP at this point, having started the year at 2,885 HP.

But you should never say "never!"

In the middle of all this crypto turmoil and bear market chatter, I must admit that it's very impressive how well LeoFinance and the LEO token has done with all the new things going on in that community.

Serves as a good reminder that if done properly and with the right degree of dedication and effort, things that happen here in our second layer Communities that can definitely make a difference.

If you've been hiding in a dark closet and not keeping up with all the developments at LeoFinance, do check out the community and participate. In particular, the "Threads" feature — Hive's own variant of something like twitter — is not just about crypto and things financial... many different communities are now participating! So why not get #caturday to start trending?

In case you didn't realize by now, I'm a big fan of our many and varied Communities, and of the many additional reward "tribal" tokens you can be rewarded with, through Hive-Engine.

A Pet's Prayer for Independence Day:

Closer to home, we are getting ready to celebrate July 4th — Independence Day here in the USA — next week, and as usual I have an important plea for pet lovers all across the US... which is to remember your furry and feathered friends on Independence Day, especially when the time comes to set off fireworks!

We really don't like all those sudden cracks and bangs in the sky and the strobing flashes of light, and they tend to make us anxious and scared.

By all means celebrate, but please keep us in mind and especially let your Feline Friends have a safe place in a closet that they can get to with a nice soft bed or a blanket, and if you're leaving your dog in the house perhaps you would do well to draw the curtains and at least close the windows in the room your dog prefers to sleep in to minimize the noise.

Other than that, we're all doing well around here!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
