The Cat from Cetinje

While strolling through the historic capital of Montenegro one day, we paused by an old, half-abandoned house. As my wife tried to decipher the plaque mounted next to the front door, I noticed a cat basking in the sun. Now, see if you can spot him in the first picture.

There he is, sitting on the windowsill and watching us intently.

We stared at each other for a couple of minutes.

And then, just as we were about to leave, the cat stuck out his tongue at us! Just like the cat from Küstendorf! I don’t know why they do it… Maybe it’s just a Balkan cat thing. Who knows? But moments like that are simply impossible to forget.
