Saving Lives Can Be Fun Too! — My BLS Training Experience

When I first signed up for Basic Life Support (BLS) training, I thought it was going to be serious, scary, and maybe even a little boring. Boy, was I wrong — it turned out to be one of the most exciting and surprisingly fun days I’ve ever had!

Pump it Up! 💪🎵

When it was time to practice chest compressions, the instructor played “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees — apparently, that’s the perfect rhythm for CPR. Everyone started pressing to the beat, and it turned into a mini dance party while saving life. Who knew saving lives had a soundtrack?

We also practiced rescue breaths, choking relief (lots of laughter when people pretended to choke dramatically), and using the AED — which, surprisingly, talks to you like a friendly robot: “Stay calm. Begin chest compressions.”

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work ✨

We even did some team scenarios, where one person called for help, another did CPR, and someone grabbed the AED. It kind of felt like a superhero movie, where everyone had their role. I realized that even though it was fun, we were actually learning how to stay calm and work together in real emergencies.

Why I Loved It ❤️

Besides all the laughs and good vibes, the best part was walking away feeling confident. If something ever happens — at home, at work, or even at the mall — I now know what to do. And it feels amazing knowing you could actually save a life someday.

So yeah, BLS training isn’t just about learning serious skills — it can also be a lot of fun if you let yourself enjoy the moment. You get to pump to the beat, save a dummy, and feel like a real-life hero in the end.

If you’re thinking about taking it, go for it. You’ll have fun, make new friends, and maybe even leave humming “Stayin’ Alive” for the rest of the week. 😉
