Me gusta la metáfora de la mente como una casa, o mejor dicho, como un hogar. Me funciona en consulta para trabajar todo lo relacionado al mundo interno de los pacientes: ¿qué les gusta hacer? ¿Qué pensamientos vienen a ellos en momentos de soledad? ¿Cuándo fue la última que le hicieron “un cariño” a su hogar? ¿Qué personas entran en su vida?
Sin embargo, en terapia no sólo trabajamos con el mundo interno de los consultantes, también con todo aquello que le rodea: personas, contextos en los cuales se desenvuelve, realidad histórica en la que están inmersos.
Siguiendo la misma analogía, este mundo externo sería como ver a través de una ventana. ¿Qué hay del otro lado? ¿Un jardín, un desierto, es un lugar seguro o inseguro? Eso también importa mucho y definitivamente, influye en cómo se siente habitar “esa casa”.
I like the metaphor of the mind as a house, or better said, as a home. It works for me in consultation to work on everything related to the internal world of patients: what do they like to do? What thoughts come to them in moments of loneliness? When was the last time they did “a sweetheart” to their home? What people enter their life?
However, in therapy we do not only work with the internal world of the patients, but also with everything that surrounds them: people, contexts in which they develop, historical reality in which they are immersed.
Following the same analogy, this external world would be like looking through a window. What is on the other side: a garden, a desert, is it a safe or unsafe place? That also matters a lot and definitely influences how it feels to inhabit “that house”.
