El arte siempre encuentra la manera de llegar a mí. A veces lo hace de forma sutil y otras de forma mucho más directa. A veces lo hace en forma de personas inspiradoras, otras veces lo hace mediante un libro, una canción o algún evento particular que presencié en la calle. Esta vez el arte me encontró mediante tizas y street art.
A veces me resulta interesante como es que el arte me encuentra justamente en los momentos que más lo necesito. Es como si de manera inconsciente las actividades artísticas llegasen a mí de la nada para hacerme reconectar de nuevo conmigo misma, con mi interior, con ese yo que pide a gritos expresarse con creatividad y color.
Esta vez fuimos a un Festival de Tizas que realizaron aquí en la ciudad. Había visto la convocatoria semanas atrás y el plan de pintar aceras con tizas un Domingo por la tarde me pareció simplemente genial y, por supuesto, arrastré a mi compañera de aventuras Caraqueñas conmigo porque, ciertamente, ambas necesitábamos una tarde de arte para darle brillos a la semana y el mes que está por comenzar.

This time we went to a Chalk Festival held here in the city. I had seen the announcement weeks ago, and the plan to paint sidewalks with chalk on a Sunday afternoon seemed simply brilliant to me. Naturally, I brought my fellow Caracas adventurer along with me because we both certainly needed an afternoon of art to brighten up the week and the month ahead.

Sin pensarlo demasiado cada una tomó un par de tizas y corrimos directo a escoger un lugar perfecto para plasmar un poco de arte. Made me decía al principio que no sabía qué hacer y que lo que había comenzado a plasmar no le estaba convenciendo, a lo que yo sólo le respondí: fluye. Porque el arte es así, a veces no necesitas pensártelo demasiado sino simplemente dejarte llevar sin importar que quede bonito o demasiado perfecto.
Por otro lado, yo decidí plasmar algo que leí en un meme hace unos días. La frase: "nacida para ser hada artesana, obligada a ser godín" podrá parecer graciosa y sí, me la tomo con un toque de gracia, pero quizás sí logre que me frustre un poco en vista de la situación de tener tan poco tiempo diariamente para poder dedicar a otras cosas que me gustan. A ver, para que comprendas un poco más, si no sabes que significa el término "godín", Google lo describe de la siguiente manera: término coloquial mexicano para referirse a un empleado de oficina, especialmente aquel que trabaja en horarios fijos de Lunes a Viernes...creo que con esto ya comprenderás a qué es lo que me refiero. Pero el punto es ese, usar el arte como medio de expresión para comunicar, a veces en clave, eso que piensas o sientes.

On the other hand, I decided to draw something I read in a meme a few days ago. The phrase: “born to be a fairy artisan, forced to be a godín” may seem funny, and yes, I take it with a grain of salt, but perhaps it does frustrate me a little, given that I have so little time each day to devote to other things I like. Let me explain a little more. Luego de que cada una terminó su dibujo individual nos aventuramos a realizar algo en conjunto y que obviamente tenía que estar relacionado con BTS. Yo comencé a hacer la silueta de los personajes de BT21 y Made me ayudó a colorear. No sé cuánto tiempo estuvimos realizando esto, pero el resultado simplemente nos encantó. Sin duda, fue un excelente trabajo en equipo.
After each of us finished our individual drawings, we ventured to do something together, and obviously it had to be related to BTS. I started drawing the silhouettes of the BT21 characters, and Made helped me color them in. I don't know how long we spent on this, but we simply loved the result. Es lindo ver cómo personas de todas las edades se unen para realizar este tipo de actividades en las calles. Habían niños, adultos e incluso abuelitos llenando las aceras de colores. Por mi recorrido tomé algunas fotografías de algunas obras que me parecieron increíbles, algunas mucho más elaboradas que otras evidentemente, pero lo importante es que cada una tenía un sello original, único, que forma parte de la esencia de su creador.

It's nice to see people of all ages coming together to do this kind of activity in the streets. There were children, adults, and even grandparents filling the sidewalks with color. Along the way, I took some photos of some works that I found incredible, some obviously much more elaborate than others, but the important thing is that each one had an original, unique stamp that is part of the essence of its creator.
