Gabriel García Márquez es de mis escritores favoritos. Como bien saben desde niña siempre he sido una fiel seguidora de los libros y es un hábito, jun estilo de vida que he mantenido a lo largo del tiempo y en mi visita por Bogotá, también conocida como la ciudad cultural de Colombia, decidí visitar su centro cultural y de verdad no me van a creer lo que me pasó al final de esta visita.
Entre tantas actividades que teníamos planificadas para hacer ese día cualquiera, decidimos empezar por Centro Cultural Gabriel García Márquez. El viaje inició a la 1:00 pm y tardamos una hora en llegar; el tráfico era bárbaro. Llegamos y allí estaba. Es un edificio ubicado en el centro histórico de Bogotá en La Candelaria, cerquita de la Plaza Bolívar y yo estaba maravillada.
Al primer momento de entrar nos conseguimos con una bienal internacional de artes para la infancia. A decir verdad, lindo que los niños hagan arte, pero mi niña interior lo que querían eran libros, así que apretamos el paso para subir al piso 2 donde estaba la “Librería México”.
En esta librería puedes encontrar todos los libros que quieras. Lo mejor de todo es que los libros están organizados por temática, así que es mucho más fácil buscar sobre el tema que quieras. Yo decidí quedarme un buen rato en los estantes donde estaban todas las obras de Gabriel García Márquez y revisar que obras no había leído de este gran escritor colombiano.
A pesar de que tenía 3 libros entre las manos, me quedé con uno en particular que me cautivó: El escándalo del siglo, un libro que por lo que pude leer en la descripción es una antología entre el periodismo y literatura que nos dejó el autor de “Cien Años de Soledad” y además ganador del premio Nobel colombiano.
Este libro lo sumo a la colección de mi biblioteca. Soy periodista y seguidora del trabajo de este hombre que un día dijo que “el periodismo es el mejor oficio del mundo” y yo lo creo.
Les confieso que al final de esta visita lloré. Me sentí inmensamente agradecida por estar en ese lugar, por estar rodeada de tantísimos libros y tener la posibilidad de estar en el lugar que fue construido para uno de los autores latinoamericanos que más admiro.
Aún no abro el libro, pero me muero por comenzar esta lectura.

Gabriel García Márquez is one of my favorite writers. As you well know since I was a child I have always been a faithful follower of books and it is a habit that I have maintained over time and in my visit to Bogota, also known as the cultural city of Colombia, I decided to visit its cultural center and you will not believe what happened to me at the end of this visit.
Among so many activities we had planned to do that day, we decided to start with the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Center. The trip started at 1:00 pm and it took us an hour to get there; the traffic was terrible. We arrived and there it was. It is a building located in the historic center of Bogota in La Candelaria, near Plaza Bolivar and I was amazed.
The first moment we entered we found an international biennial of arts for children. To tell the truth, it's nice that children make art, but my inner child wanted books, so we pushed our way up to the 2nd floor where the “Librería México” was located.
In this bookstore you can find all the books you want. The best of all is that the books are organized by subject, so it is much easier to search for the topic you want. I decided to stay for a while in the shelves where all the works of Gabriel García Márquez were and check what works I had not read of this great Colombian writer.
Although I had 3 books in my hands, I was captivated by one in particular: The scandal of the century, a book that from what I could read in the description is an anthology between journalism and literature that the author of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and also winner of the Colombian Nobel Prize left us.
I add this book to my library collection. I am a journalist and a follower of the work of this man who once said that “journalism is the best profession in the world” and I believe it.
I confess that at the end of this visit I cried. I felt immensely grateful for being in that place, for being surrounded by so many books and for having the possibility of being in the place that was built for one of the Latin American authors I admire the most.
I haven't opened the book yet, but I can't wait to start reading it.

Una grata crónica de tu vista a ese centro cultural dedicado a GGM. Cuando fui a Bogotá hace años no existía. No pierdo la esperanza de volver a Bogotá, ciudad de la que quedé prendado, y en particular de La Candelaria. No he leído ese libro del Gabo; espero que lo disfrutes.
