La aventura es la brújula que define mi existencia. En este momento, me dejo llevar por una travesía que serpentea a través de las sabanas infinitas, justo en el umbral que une a Venezuela y Brasil. Aquí, a inmensidad me captura: estoy absorto en una burbuja de deleite, un contexto paradisíaco cuya exuberancia parece un eco primigenio. En este confín de la Amazonia, la geografía no es un mapa, sino un volumen mágico que pulsa y respira.
Adventure is the compass that defines my existence. Right now, I am letting myself be carried away by a journey that winds through endless savannahs, right on the border between Venezuela and Brazil. Here, the immensity captivates me: I am absorbed in a bubble of delight, a paradisiacal setting whose exuberance seems like a primal echo. In this corner of the Amazon, geography is not a map, but a magical volume that pulses and breathes.
El horizonte se despliega ante mí con sus pampas doradas, el espejo fugaz de las lagunas, y las aves que bordan el aire. El cielo es una tela inmensa, teñida con el color de lo absoluto, un manto que se extiende hacia el infinito. Todo en este paisaje encierra una plenitud que inspira la sensibilidad para existir en paz, enlazado a la promesa efímera de la libertad.
The horizon unfolds before me with its golden pampas, the fleeting mirror of the lagoons, and the birds that embroider the air. The sky is an immense canvas, dyed with the colour of the absolute, a mantle that stretches towards infinity. Everything in this landscape embodies a fullness that inspires the sensitivity to exist in peace, linked to the ephemeral promise of freedom.
Mi ruta me lleva desde Boa Vista hasta Santa Elena de Uairén, Ciudad Bolívar, y culmina en Caicara del Orinoco. Este plan es un pretexto para la admiración pura: contemplar la belleza atemporal de la Gran Sabana es un privilegio, pero llegar a Caicara, el pórtico fluvial a la selva, será la cúspide. Allí, el río Orinoco, torrentoso y ancho como un mar interior, promete atardeceres donde la luz se disuelve en oro líquido, un espectáculo fugaz que anticipo con fervor.
My route takes me from Boa Vista to Santa Elena de Uairén, Ciudad Bolívar, and ends in Caicara del Orinoco. En este maravilloso tránsito, hago una pausa en el terminal de Santa Elena de Uairén. Compro el pasaje de autobús que partirá temprano hacia Ciudad Bolívar y decido dedicar tiempo a mi almuerzo, disfrutando este peregrinaje personal. Solicito una sopa con abundantes viandas. Me sirven el alimento hirviendo, lo degusto con calma y, por curiosidad, pregunto por la carne. —Lagarto. Me responden con naturalidad.
During this wonderful journey, I pause at the Santa Elena de Uairén terminal. I buy a bus ticket for an early departure to Ciudad Bolívar and decide to take my time over lunch, enjoying this personal pilgrimage. I order a soup with plenty of vegetables. They serve me the piping hot food, I taste it calmly and, out of curiosity, I ask about the meat. -Lizard. They reply casually.

Abordo el autobús con el estómago lleno de ese sabor inesperado. Al entrar al mágico espacio geográfico del Parque Nacional Canaima, el paisaje se transforma. Las sabanas se rinden suavemente al pie del Roraima. Los Tepuyes, monolitos silentes, se alzan como ancestrales centinelas de la selva amazónica. Mientras el vehículo avanza con una parsimonia bienvenida, somos testigos del momento exacto en que el sol se desvanece, tiñendo la región con un esplendor prodigioso y breve. La noche, profunda y total, toma la posesión de la carretera.
I board the bus with my stomach full of that unexpected flavour. Upon entering the magical geographical space of Canaima National Park, the landscape transforms. The savannahs gently surrender at the foot of Roraima. The Tepuyes, silent monoliths, rise like ancestral sentinels of the Amazon rainforest. As the vehicle advances with a welcome slowness, we witness the exact moment when the sun fades, tinging the region with a prodigious and brief splendour. The night, deep and total, takes possession of the road.
Llego a Ciudad Bolívar bajo un cielo plomizo que anuncia una lluvia inminente, pero mi paladar aún guarda el eco salado de aquella sopa de lagarto. Volar en alas de aventura no es un estado, sino una decisión diaria que me permite habitar la frecuencia sutil de mis emociones más fascinantes.
I arrive in Ciudad Bolívar under a leaden sky that heralds imminent rain, but my palate still retains the salty echo of that lizard soup. Flying on the wings of adventure is not a state of being, but a daily decision that allows me to inhabit the subtle frequency of my most fascinating emotions.
