When we had Pucca for the first time, I didn't know how to set up a parrot cage. We bought a lot of toys at the parrot shop, but somehow it looks too much to put it all in one cage. After doing some research, I read that parrots need a lot of toys, especially wooden toys so they will never get bored. I also read that Amazon parrots aren't as easy as other other parrots and therefore they need lots of toys so they won't pluck themselves out of boredom.
.
This is his cage from the outside. There are a lot of DIY toys. I just removed many of the wooden pieces from the toys and made them smaller and spread them in his cage.
I make sure there are many climbing and hanging stuff made of natural materials. Yes, I do have some plastic toys, but I will replace them soon with wooden toys. I wouldn't want to bring my parrot to the vet just because he digested too much plastic.
A hammock he loves to chill on ;-).
He also has a lot of ropes with knots in it so he can swing like Tarzan ;-D.
In the left corner I put a plate with a bowl of wooden pieces he can choose of as an extra. As usual he drops everything on the bottom of his cage.
He loves these wooden beads so I have these on random places for him to chew it off.
Instead of newspaper I put towels and blankets. It is more durable this way instead of using mountains of newspapers. I just spot clean every morning. If he falls then he will also land softly.
Overall I think Pucca loves his cage setup. I really explores and use everything in his cage. Of course we take him out everyday so he will never feel bored.
That pic with your parrot is so cute! Gotta love animals :)
Thank you 🥰. Yes, it would be weird not to love animals!
