DD#62: I won an award [ENG/ESP]

Hello community! I hope you are all doing well. I want to tell you about one of the most wonderful experiences I've had this year. A while ago, I told you that I made my first short film called “Un Día a la Vez” (One Day at a Time) for a university assignment. I had a lot of fun in the process and also learned a lot. Some time later, there was “MavFest,” a short film festival where the best films of the year are awarded prizes. Those who took the audiovisual course (like me) could participate, but so could other students who had something to show. The professor said that he hadn't seen so many short films in the nine editions of MavFest in years, so he was quite happy. There was a whole selection and voting process, and finally the day came to find out the winners.

Hola comunidad! espero se encuentren muy bien. Quiero contarles lo que ha sido una de las experiencias más bonitas para mi este año. Hace un tiempo les conté que hice mi primer cortometraje llamado ¨Un Día a la Vez¨ esto debido a una tarea de la universidad, me divertí mucho en el proceso y también aprendí bastante. Tiempo después de vino lo que fue el ¨MavFest¨ el cual es un festival de cortometrajes en donde se premian a los mejores del año, podían participar aquellos que vieron la materia de audiovisuales (como yo) pero también aquellos estudian tes que tuvieran algo para mostrar, el profesor dijo que hace años que no veía tantos cortometrajes en sus 9 ediciones del MavFest por lo cual estaba bastante contento. Se hizo todo un proceso de elección y votación y finalmente llegó el día de conocer a los ganadores.

First, a jury watched each of the selected short films and narrowed down the number (there were really a lot). Then, that small selection was shown to the audience so they could choose which one would be selected as “The Audience Favorite.” In the end, all the winners chosen by the jury were revealed. (I didn't win anything). I watched my friends and classmates receive their awards (it was really nice to see, to be honest), and the last award to be mentioned was “The Audience Favorite.” As the name suggests, this award was chosen by those who watched the short films selected to participate. I didn't think I would win it since I had two favorites and hoped it would be one of them, but I did win!

Todo fue organizado entre profesores y estudiantes, los premios fueron Casetes intervenidos por los profesores (Hermosos he de decir) Primero un jurado se encargó de ver cada uno de los cortometrajes seleccionados y reducir su número (eran de verdad muchos) luego, esa pequeña selección fue mostrada al público para que ellos eligieran cual iba ser elegido como ¨El favorito del público¨ Al final se revelaron todos los ganadores dictados por el jurado (no gané nada) ver vi a mis amigos y compañeros recibir sus premios (fue muy bonito de ver, a verdad) y el último premio en ser mencionado fue justamente ¨El favorito del público¨ Ese premio que como su nombre lo dice fue elegido por aquellas personas que vieron los cortometrajes seleccionados a participar., no pensé ganarlo ya que tenía dos favoritos y esperaba que fue alguno de ellos, pero si gané!.

I am very happy to have received this award. The fact that the public chose it makes it even better because I feel that it means that people were able to connect with what I wanted to convey. It wasn't easy for me to make this short film because I did practically everything myself (the script, the storyboard, the editing), and I am grateful to my friend Ronald for helping me with the scenes I couldn't shoot myself. I would say to him, “Look, you stand here and shoot it like this,” and he did everything I asked. In general, we make a good team for things like this. As I said, the award is beautiful, and to finish, I just want to say how grateful I am, not only for this award but for all the wonderful things that have happened this year.

Estoy muy feliz por haber recibido este premio, el hecho de que el público lo haya elegido creo que o hace hasta mejor porque siento que significa que las personas si pudieron conectar con aquello que quería transmitir. No fue fácil para mi hacer este cortometraje porque prácticamente lo hice todo sola (El guion, el storyboard, la edición) y me siento agradecida con mi amigo Ronald por haberme ayudado en aquellas escenas que yo no podía grabar, tal cual le decía ¨Mira, te quedas aquí de pies y grabas así¨ y é cumplió con todo, en general para cosas así hacemos buen equipo. Como les dije el premio está hermoso y en general para terminar solo quiero decir lo agradecida no solo por este premio si no por todo lo bonito que ha pasado este año.
