Hello dear friends. In today’s post I’d like to share my observations and impressions of Milan street fashion. As a fashion enthusiast, I must say that I was deeply inspired by the street style while exploring the city. The streets here are like runways. People dress elegantly and I noticed that individuals of all ages embrace very diverse styles. Seniors, young people, men, women and even pets wear outfits that reflect their unique personalities. Let me put it this way: I’ve seen dogs in Milan who are dressed more stylishly than us. They’re like little fashion icons.
What caught my attention the most is how people use colors. Bright and vibrant colors are commonly worn: red, yellow, green, blue and pretty much every color you can imagine. This brings the streets to life and gives them a completely different vibe.
The use of accessories is equally impressive. Hats, scarves, bags and sunglasses stand out year-round. How they pair these accessories is equally important, creating chic and original looks.
Now, I’d like to share a bit about how people are dressing this winter and what trends dominate the street fashion scene. Plus I’ll show you the photos I took while wandering around this week. Walking through the streets of Milan I feel like I’m on a movie set. There’s a different style inspiration at every corner and it really excites me.
In December it often rains here and the weather is gray and gloomy. Yet, bright colors seem to draw our attention in completely different directions. Shades like red, burgundy and emerald green frequently appear in thick coats and accessories. Colors like these are very fashionable this winter, but who knows what next winter will bring? Maybe everything will shift to minimalist and neutral tones. Plaid, houndstooth and geometric patterns dominate accessories and are used skillfully by some fashion enthusiasts. Others achieve a sophisticated look by combining different textures like leather, wool and cashmere. A few days ago it was a bit cold. While taking photos, my hands were so frozen that I almost dropped my phone at one point. Luckily I managed to catch it at the last second. Wearing a coat in this cold is definitely a good idea.
This year coats stand out the most. I think they manage to blend both classic and modern styles. Particularly, camel, black, gray and navy coats are very popular. They not only keep you warm but are also incredibly comfortable. Of course, details like fur collars, leather accents and belts don’t go unnoticed. Despite the cold weather, people’s dedication to style impresses me. This must be what they mean by suffering for fashion.
As for accessories, large, eye-catching scarves are among the first details to grab your attention. Gloves, hats and beanies remain essential staples of the colder months, as always. Leather gloves and wool beanies, in particular, combine elegance and practicality. I must say leather gloves look especially chic. Regarding bags, both large shopper totes and small crossbody bags are commonly preferred.
For footwear, boots dominate the scene, with both short and tall models being popular. Examples include leather boots and ankle-length booties, which look stylish and adapt well to various styles. Of course, there are also plenty of people opting for sneakers, especially more stylish and design-oriented models.
Based on my general observations, layering is quite common during these winter months in Milan. This not only keeps you warm but also allows for creating unique styles. Quality is also a priority here; it’s rare to see people dressed carelessly or in low-quality clothing.
Personal touches are, in my opinion a major highlight of street fashion here. Walking around, you can feel that there’s a living culture of fashion on the streets. It’s also an excellent source of inspiration.
This post is based on my general observations and trend predictions. I wanted to share the street photos I took this month because I believe they reflect the overall atmosphere of Milan’s street fashion and typical winter looks. There were so many stylish people that I couldn’t stop taking photos. I was seriously worried my phone’s battery would die. I hope you enjoy them.
