RE: Is this worth money?

in Synergy Builders2 days ago (edited)

I read every word of this thought-provoking post, @ecoinstant. From the experience base of my long professional life, there are a number of different angles from which one might choose to respond, in an attempt to add value to it.

First answering your question:

"Is this worth any money?"

Yes. Is it that simple. Is there ... "more to the story?" Well ...

For a response, I'll just put down some bullet points (on any one of which I could easily write a whole post):

  • Goods or services are only worth what the market is willing to pay.

  • Perceived value. It doesn't matter what the provider of any goods or services think it is worth. It only matters what the buyer thinks it is worth (one of the single most difficult lessons I ever personally learned) ...

  • How is the ... "market" ... ever going to find out about your goods or services? If no one knows about it, then the value is essentially zero, until such time as that changes. Very rarely does that ever come about without a significant effort in its own right (on top of the effort to build / provide it, in the first place) ...

  • Clear problem statement explaining in a straight up way what the goods or services are helping one overcome. The better this is understood and agreement reached on the perceived benefit, the greater the probability of overcoming the uhhh ... "inertia" ... one finds in attempting to get a person "sold" ...

Very little is more satisfying professionally that engaging in a truly mutually beneficial (all 3 words count!) transaction.

I could write a lot more. The WIIFM principle ... Human nature and the growing entitlement mentality (maybe not an issue there in Columbia?) ... The declining appreciation of the value and importance of good, honest work. Etc. etc. etc ...

Until next time! 🫡👋
