ECOBANK - Roadmap Update

in Synergy Builders2 days ago (edited)

Make sure to check out recent update Part 1 and Part 2 to get up to date for this update.

Today we will be diving deeper into the "what is ECOBANK trying to do?", and where we go from here.

As you may know, ECOBANK is not the only project I manage, or that I am involved with. The account @quintaesencia on HIVE represents our NGO, founded in 2012. In some ways, Ecobank Development Colombia is able to develop side-by-side with our not-for-profit organization - and this also flows well with our "tourism" focus as discussed in Part 2.

Basically, I have a mission around sustainable development, and I am willing to use all the tools to experiment. I personally find natural systems and decentralized technological systems to share many similarities, although the youtube algorithm doesn't seem to agree.

ECOBANK token, and Ecobank Development Colombia SAS, are proof of concept for a certain digital framework - and we have definitiely proven the concept. But it is also a potential (legal) platform to inject possibly unlimited funds into sustainable development where I live. The only limit is my own ability to manage the projects, and let me tell you that is quite a limit by itself.

Building a Brand

This week I head with my wife to the COP16 Biodiversity Summit in Cali, Colombia - where she will be participating as a discussion lead for GLFx Tolima. I will be in the shadows, as a journalist, as a citizen, as an observer. Practically every organization throwing money at biodiversity globally will be there. It should be a fun trip.

Of course, I can represent myself my brand. That brand probably includes Ecobank Development Colombia. I can't even begin to list the quantity of "organizational representation" scrunched into the 4 or 5 person contingent from our region, but luckily I am a "free agent" going on my own account; so as long as I can build internal consistency I am a brand ambassador for Ecobank Development Colombia where ever I go.

By the way, building internal consistency is one of the reasons I often get so philosophical "what are we doing here?" in my posts.

Obviously we have a hotel, a place to stay, but we represent so much more! Review once again the above video of the "Ruta Pajarera", @quintaesencia's decade long strategy for socio-environmental development in our region, being presented to global leaders next week. And realize that our "Casa Lago" sits exactly at the head of this trail, primed to serve breakfast to anyone embarking on the day trip in support of biodiversity.

I marked it here:

What does this mean for ECOBANK holders?

There are a few implications that I want to make clear here:

  1. This is my life's work. I hold more tokens than anyone and when it makes sense, I will buy more. More than a token, this is part of my identity, and it links into everything we are doing whether I have been able to articulate it or not.

  2. I manage completely independent accounts for @ecobanker, myself (@ecoinstant, various), INCOME synergy Fund (@ecoinstats), Quinta Esencia Taller (@quintaesencia) and other independent efforts. I especially will never mix business and personal accounts.

  3. We are in this together. I must applaud the patience of our ECOBANK holders, as there have been some slow growing pains along the way. We have a "share" in this struggle, but I am working on improving dividends (more consistency, more transparency) and should have another update in November when I get back from COP16.

I had expected one or more visits from ECOBANK members by now, but I do understand that the world has also done its best to not be expected in the meantime.

How to use a Market

We are all adults here, and anyone who has considered buying a token should also consider selling a token. In the future, @ecobanker will be able to implement a liquidity pool, following the very successful model of the INCOME token LP. But for now, we have a hive-engine market.

Its good to state that the automatic existence of an order book market interface is a nice selling point when explaining this process to those outside of HIVE or crypto.

Because around here we mostly don't know how to use them anyway, and look down upon these naturally desolate and "low-liquidity" order books.

Deploying liquidity to buy orders really only makes sense at a deep discount, since that money earns no yield. Plus, they expire automatically every 30 days.

There should be no expectation that liquidity be there (unless there is a pool to anchor), but you can still use the tool! List your ECOBANK tokens to sell, indicating the price you would accept. If in 30 days, no one bites, they appear right back in your wallet, cancel anytime.

@ecobanker is not buying at these low HIVE prices, it will deploy its HIVE capital as appropriate when HIVE is appropriately expensive. As for me personally, my personal wallets have taken a beating over the long bear market, and I am in no position currently to deploy more capital into ECOBANK, already representing a dangerously high percentage of my net worth, unless there is a nice discount involved to the value I perceive, which to make clear is more than the original sale price.

I don't know about other members, but it seems to me due to market and project conditions, the onus is currently on the sellers to offer a price juicy enough for someone to deploy capital at such depressing times.

But we continue to build.
