You asked for it!
Rarely do I begin a painting with a concept. It seems to come early on though. That morning I had Kyoto, Japan on the brain. I was daydreaming of traveling there next spring to feel something new. Dragon figure appears, and then the cherry blossoms. Then the realization of all the natural beauty surrounding me here, yet a culture that flows like dry peanut butter. I often dream of “there” because what was thriving once “here” among a hundred native cultures, my European ancestors annihilated in a few generations:(
Now we travel far distances to find what others kept and built upon for 1000+ years.
And, there are probably over 20 million American arms with Japanese wisdoms tattooed on them.

Loved the backstory! thanks for explaining.

Sure! More stories to come:)
