Warning!!

Warning!!

Warning!!

This is an Old Photos in The Post alert!!!

Please be careful how you handle this piece of memories I am bringing today. Those were some different times - the past - and who knows what phone my son had, as it was he who took these photos of me... It was a time I should not mention in words, but if you remember some four years ago the months we had to stay at home...? Locked inside our homes? Well, we talk about those times.

...

Maybe one additional alert... food alert 😂 and the chef..? None other than yours truly!

This could be a complete disaster, the combination of the mentioned alerts... but let's go. Into the kitchen doing wild things. Yes, why are you surprised? I used to cook and bake there some tasty bites, like these little bread rolls you will meet in no time.

But patience, please. First I had to find these photos, which were hidden among a gazillion other photos and documents in the external little black box thingy you see in the first photo. There I found things that I don't know why we still didn't delete. Tons of homework of my son that he had to send to his teachers, as they couldn't go to school. The lessons were... which lessons? I would lie they had online lessons. No, they just got every morning the tasks and homework through the application the education provided, and later they had to send back the work. Maths, literature, music, even physical education! I found today all those works there and the photos of my son doing planks, push-ups, and all other physical exercises they had to do.

Not sure for which subject we needed this food preparation activity. The result was anyway tasty, although my son may not be the best photographer. 😆 But I alerted you at the beginning of my post! 😁

The baking went in this order... prepare the ingredients. Measure the flour, one egg, butter, yeast, oil, milk, and a little salt. Yeah, I am looking at the photo, but I know very well this recipe, just for the record. I got it from my sister, who was a pro in preparing these rolls.

Now the tricky part comes... the waiting part!

Because you have to let the dough rise, in a warm place, cover it with a kitchen cloth if you prefer and sometimes check on it. And wait.

Foto 3.jpeg

Once the dough took its time and felt ready for further intervention, I placed it on a flat surface sprinkled with flour and rolled out the dough thinly with the help of a rolling pin.

Foto 4.jpeg

{Don't pay attention to my white hands}

After the waiting time and rolling out activities, we have to take out the knives!! Be careful, very careful! Cut just the dough in triangles and never your fingers. They have to survive the culinary actions without any injury.

Foto 5.jpeg

If you follow my steps, you will also see from the photo that you can place baking paper on the baking tray. The rolls will take a nap there.

Foto 6.jpeg

Don't forget to place the tray into a preheated oven though. It is an essential step in this baking process, so you get this result:

Can you smell the freshly baked rolls now?

Be honest!

Foto 8.jpeg

Don't worry, I can't do that either as they disappeared from this bowl four years ago... 😉

Food!! 🤤

We used to make them pretty often when I was younger. But we add some filling, like fruits, jam or sweet cottage cheese with raisin. Ohhh delicious things!

We also stuff these rolls sometimes. Some with cheese, or ham, or sweet versions, like jam! but but but, midnight passed here and writing about these fillings makes me hungry hahaha 🤐

I don't know if I'm hungry or what, but I can smell those freshly baked rolls haha 😂

4 years have gone by, that horrible year, but these pictures overshadow those months of sadness haha I want to 😋🦉

Well, 20 hours later - are you still hungry? hahha

I hope you ate something in the meantime 😁 😇🦉

Yes, I ate something but I'm always hungry hahahaha 😂

No matter what time it is I want those little bread rolls... in Argentina we call them "medialunas". The smell is intoxicating and delicious and I love them with mate!!! Your memory brought back so many memories today!😍

Medialunas - like half moons? They do have that shape, so the name is perfect! :)

I guess that the rolls and mate would do a good combination 😇

Yes, we call them that and they are made with butter, they are delicious, Argentinian pastry is a mixture of Italian and French!

That looks delicious, I'm sure the smells of it when you are baking it spread to the whole place, rightyy? Haha. The kind of smell that will lure someone to follow it. It is homemade and freshly baked, nothing could go wrong into this. So when do you plan to do your next baking session? Hehe

That is true, the aroma of it is spread through the whole apartment later :D
The last time I made these... was last Christmas, when I had a bit more free time as I had two weeks of vacation ;)

All of that was very true. The online school work and the amount of baked goods we got to do during those strange months. It seems like a parallel world, although your narration is very entertaining, it is still the memory of an alternative reality. How delicious that must have been!

A parallel world - and it sounds so distant now, if it happened a long, long time ago.... and it was just four years ago. I made these rolls the last time around Christmas last year. Maybe this Christmas I make them again hahaha

At first I thought those were fried prawns (from thumbnail). But these are rolls very cautiously made where you can get your fingers cut or can get unfocused because of some white looking hands 😅.

White-looking hands - maybe I am a ghost hahaha 😂

Hey Gabry: could you send me a croissant? 😜😘🥰😎

You are always welcome in our home, for a croissant or paella with sangria, mio caro amico 😇

That's really cool, my friends: I'll bring some Cidre from France!

A huge hug to all of you!

🤗

🙃 aaaaaaaawwww, there's a smell of rolls in the house since you posted. Whatever you say.

(I focused on your cooking skills so I wouldn't think about that time that was awful for me).

Maybe the aroma of these rolls travelled for four years until it arrived at your place 😁

Cooking skills 🙄

😅 m e i b i

Yes, you have shown with your white hands that you've got skills ;)

it look delicious...we have something similar called Cangrejitos...

He mirado ahora qué son cangrejitos. Sí, parece igual, o muy similar ;)

Se pueden rellenar con carne o queso

Four years ago is definitely a very unique throwback memory. Many of us became cooking experts and health gurus during that be period. Fun times, now looking back.

Did you eat the whole bowl by yourself 🙄

We had time all the time we needed, to learn recipes and cook, bake or do some exercise - things I don't do anymore.

Did you eat the whole bowl by yourself 🙄

I wonder what makes you think such a thing about me... 🤔 hahaha, maybe we sent the rolls to the teacher via email 😂

I'm reminiscing a few months back. I made rolls that were similar but stuffed with hot dogs (pigs in a blanket). I can't smell them but know of that smell 😜

Pigs in a blanket - I guess it is its name. Which sounds good. I mean, it smells good ;)))

Those were hard times and cooking was an escape route for us to entertain ourselves. But you did very well. Remember that olfactory memory is strong but time and distance conspire. Nice memory. Thanks for sharing. Lovely Friday.🥰❤️

We did many things to entertain ourselves. Children had it difficult as they missed many months of school, so there are things they have never learned well.
Thank you @mamani, have a nice evening today and a great Friday tomorrow you too!

Aww
I’m wondering what made you remember a meal you made four days ago
