El puente Vasco de Gama con más de 12km es el más lago de Europa atravesando el estuario del Tajo en el este de Lisboa. Se construyó con motivo de la Exposición Universal que se celebró en la capital portuguesa en 1998 y une las dos orillas del Río Tajo, empezando en El Parque das Nações, donde estaba radicada la Exposición, y acabando en Montijo, en la orilla sur. Tiene tres carriles de circulación en cada sentido, siendo su anchura de 31mt entre las dos calzadas y la mediana Debe su nombre al navegante y conquistador Vasco de Gama.

The Vasco de Gama Bridge is the longest bridge in Europe spanning more than 12km across the Tagus estuary in the east of Lisbon. It was built for the Universal Exhibition held in the Portuguese capital in 1998 and links the two banks of the Tagus River, starting at Parque das Nações, where the Exhibition was located, and ending at Montijo, on the south bank. It has three lanes of traffic in each direction, being 31m wide between the two carriageways and the median. It owes its name to the navigator and conqueror Vasco de Gama.
