Greetings, Community!!!
Nice to meet you all! I must thank @lionsaturbix for his good disposition and kindness. It was through his GTA post that I got to know this community, and I ‘m very eager to participate.
I‘m completely sure that we have all experienced seeing something very curious during a game and not having anyone to share it with. Sometimes NPCs can surprise us, or even a bug can make us laugh. Once, during a game, the monster behaved erratically, destroying everything in its path, creating an environment and scene straight out of a movie! Or playing with a good friend of mine, with great skill we managed to defeat a boss just in the nick of time. I hope to bring you many more of these stories from now on so that they do not remain just memories.
Today, I bring you a game from Epic Games! Epic Games is giving it away, and we have until November 28th to claim it. Don’t miss this opportunity.
BEHOLDER
This time we step into the role of Carl Stein, a family man. We are an agent appointed by the state. We will manage a residential complex while spying on the citizens and reporting any strange behavior that could pose a threat to our country.
In the first scene, by order of the state, Carl Stein, along with his family—Anna, Carl’s wife, and their two children, Patrick and Martha Stein—are moved to what appears to be our next job. In Anna’s eyes, you can clearly see the yearning for a better life, while Patrick, the eldest son, seems like the typical grumpy teenager. Undoubtedly, Martha, the youngest daughter, is an innocent child.
Getting into the character’s shoes, I read a letter detailing my new assignment. It also informs me about an experimental drug injected into my system during my last medical exam. This drug apparently removes the need for sleep so that we can serve “the motherland” longer (If you know what I mean 🪆). While we are being transported by bus, something suspicious is happening elsewhere.
I was very struck by the initial art of the game. A monochromatic style and simple designs that show that you don’t always need impressive graphics to create a good game. Moreover, giving a logical explanation for the game mechanics, claiming that we don’t need to sleep due to an experimental drug, was a stroke of genius. It helps maintain the game’s immersion.
As the scene progresses, they show us a middle-aged man being brutally subjected by state officials who represent the authority.
We arrive at the residence and encounter this battered man; it turns out to be our predecessor. While he is being manhandled by the authorities, a shadowy figure approaches us. It turns out to be our supervisor, George Hemnitz from the Ministry of Order, handing us the keys and giving us the final details of our assignment.
Without a doubt, I can feel an air of authority emanating from this guy. George Hemnitz seems like a man who doesn’t mess around. I’m not sure how much I can trust him. From the start, there’s something fishy about him.
However, George does his job impeccably. He offers to teach us a few things, such as where and why to install a camera. Apparently, privacy means nothing to the state.
I also notice that I have a notebook with quite useful data, information on the residents. The game automatically updates the information about each of them. I can also see a section where the new directives from the state and the tasks assigned to me are announced.
Without wasting much time, they give us our first mission: to watch Jacob Wanishek in apartment 02. We will have to search his apartment and install 2 cameras.
The first thing we do is make sure no one is home. According to George’s words: “Many citizens still think their private life is their own business.” Huh.
We enter Jacob Wanishek’s apartment, checking a few things, we find a broken glass bottle that could well be used as a weapon. We also find some dice and poker cards; the suspect is a gambler. I decide to install the security camera to see what else I can find out about the subject. Now we just have to wait.
On the third day, the suspect, Jacob Wanishek, appears, and it didn’t take long for him to incriminate himself. The cameras detected drug use, which is strictly prohibited by state directives. Now I have enough evidence to report him to the authorities.
I particularly love this mechanic; you must record every detail of the report: the name, the apartment, the directive being violated, and attach the evidence. And make sure you don’t make any mistakes. I don’t want to think about how the game complicates, but an error like this could be serious.
That’s all for today. I hope you enjoyed this format. I thought it was a very good idea. Hopefully, you enjoy it as much as I did playing the game and creating the post. Remember, the game Beholder is available on Epic, for free until November 28th. Link below
