When Extraction Went Wrong | Far Cry New Dawn

What should have been a clean extraction turned into chaos once the package tracker activated and Highwayman reinforcements flooded the island. Holding the line from a mounted machine gun worked at first, but a misjudged wingsuit jump ruined a perfect run and reset the entire mission.

I used the zipline to get back to the other side of the island where the mounted machine gun was located. I wanted to be ready for whatever reinforcements the Highwaymen sent my way once the tracker started pinging their base.

From my position at the machine gun, I noticed red flares being shot into the air. The GPS of the package was active, and the Highwaymen were calling in everyone they had to stop me from leaving the island with their loot.

I noticed a chopper flying toward the roof of the building. For a second, I thought it was Roger Cadoret coming to pick me up, so I stayed focused on shooting some Highwaymen who were running around on the ground level.

I soon realized it was not Roger; it was an enemy chopper dropping off reinforcements. They started using the same zipline I had used earlier to get to my position. I stayed on the machine gun and shot them down one by one before they could reach my platform.

While I was focused on the zipline, I was suddenly shot from close range. A Highwayman had somehow snuck up on me. I turned and shot him down, then saw my pilot, Roger, flying just behind me and heading to the extraction spot.

Noticing the chopper was going towards the picking spot, I climbed the tower beside me and tried a high jump. I opened my wingsuit, aiming to glide directly into the chopper's open door for a dramatic and fast exit from the island.

But sadly, I miscalculated the glide. I hit something and died instantly. It was a sad moment, but also funny because I had done everything perfectly only to mess it up at the very end of the mission.

I didn't think I'd be sent back to the very beginning of the mission after all that progress, but I was. I was frustrated, so I decided to abandon my slow stealth plan and just fight my way through as fast as possible.

I climbed the big tower again and shot down the guard at the entrance first. I didn't care about silence this time; I just wanted to get my package back and finish what I had started.

I jumped into the building and went straight for the lady guard. I shot her down and then took out the body next to her. I was moving much faster now, fueled by the annoyance of having to restart the entire mission.

After securing the package again, I tried to take the same path back to the machine gun. However, when I jumped off the tower to get to the gun fast, I misjudged the height again and died.

I was sent back to the beginning for a second time. It was incredibly frustrating.
