New mural Art at Haarlem

Sidney Waerts

Artist Sidney Waerts from Haarlem (Lelystad 1976) has been drawing and painting since he was four. As a painter, he makes works on canvas and for a number of years he has also created artworks on walls. He describes his style as photorealistic in combination with expressive abstraction. “My work evokes discomfort and a feeling of unease in many people.

I like to work with contrast, for example between things that can be both ugly and beautiful. It tells the story about the visual and fast society we live in. The superficiality: society's obsession with outward appearance and materialism,” Sidney explains.

This work (august 2022) at the Klaverbladpoort Haarlem is dedicated to the New generation, the chalenges they have, the refugeesituation Oekraïne children are in right now. The doves might symbolise the peace we want?
