The adopting message is very appropriate, isn't street art a political form of protest? of course it is. There is still a lot of animal injustice everywhere.
As for the unknown character, if you ever get interested in anime you'll probably get it easily, it's a bit of a trend, although I'm not able to place it exactly either. xD
The hole turned into a figure is great, I think those creative sparks that these street artists use to beautify the dilapidated look in the cities is just spectacular.
